My mother in law has been staying with me and hubby now for a year based on her losing her home due to the katrina storm. Like a good son my husband allowed his mother to stay a little while which ended up becoming longer than expected due, to her developing health issues. I on the other hand felt very uncomfortable because, there were things about her character that I didn't like but, being sensitive towards her need to stay I allowed myself to tolerate the situation completely. Things became worse between us due to her being on various types of medications and me having my hormones jumping all over the place pregnant at the time At this point where not liking each other very much the, good news she is getting her house fix but for the mean time how to deal with this siuation?

Tell her to go to a motel, you were good enough to help out, now she needs to move out & on.

Keep telling yourself "and this to will end"

Her house is being fixed. she will be out soon. Try and keep things/feelings undercontrol. You don't want the relationship completely destroyed because you have a beautiful little one coming soon who would love to be spoiled by his grandmother. Hang in there !

P.S. Ask your husband to help out with some of his mothers demands, medication and make sure he keeps up with making sure that her house is being repaired.

Be a little more understanding. If that was you, wouldn't you want your child to take you in with that kind of situation? Or say it is your mother, wouldn't you want your husband to take your mom in?
I know it is definately not what you wanted to hear, but oh well.

you place yourself as the daughter of your mother in law.
and think your mother in law as your own mother.
now tell me what would you like to advice your sister in law to take care of your mother in such conditions as mentioned by you.
always take the reasonable decisions which do not hurt both sides. you will also become a mother in law in the years to come
