I started getting chest hair ealier this year when I was 15, with a little around my nipples and bellybutton. Now my chest and stomache are really thick with hair like shag carpet, and my arms and legs are too.
I get a lot of remarks like Bigfoot or Saquatch in the locker room, so I am wondering if I should shave my chest. Also does this mean I will go bald? My uncle is super hairy and says he started going bald in high school. I don't want to be bald and really hairy, so what can I do?

Only reason I mentioned my uncle is because he is my mom's brother and he looked the same at 16 as I do. He is 32 and was really hairy and bald by the time he entered college. Everyone say I look like him, so in a few years I am afraid I will have a hairy back and be come bald on top. He has only a lttle hair on his head but has an extremely hairy body and a really long goatee. On top of this he was very skinny like me in high school but now weighs over 300 pounds. Are my genetics destined that I will have to look like him?

I don't know how I got so hairy so fast. When I say super hair, I mean like Steve Carell in "The 40 Year Old Virgin." Is it normal for someone my age to get so hairy so young? By the way, I've been shaving for almost 2 yers now and could grow a full beard if I wanted to. By the way, I am white and not Middle Eastern either, like someone asked me in an email. I am Irish, English, French, and Dutch.

I have a friend whom I've known all my life, who got really hairy around your age. He also went bald by 20. People made fun of him in high school as well.

Like him, you just happen to have a lot of testosterone. It makes you hairy all over except where you want it.

He works out and has a good body, but he goes shirtless in the summer and nobody comments on his abundance of hair. He shaves the fringe of his hair, so he is completely bald now. He recently remarried, and his new wife loves his body.

I can see how you could be confused by your abundance of body hair, considering that you never see lead actors with chest hair anymore. I don't know why they all shave their chests. Of course, if you shaved everything off now, the conspicuous absence of your hair will raise even more questions. If you want a reason to shave your body hair, join the swim team and you will probably be required to shave your chest, legs, arms, etc. However, if you do this, you may probably have to shave your head as well. If you think you are going to go bald and want to hang on to your hair for as long as possible, this may be a problem for you.

Just accept the fact that you are probably more well advanced in your manhood than the rest of the other guys. Hey, look on the bright side: having all that testosterone means you have really strong "swimmers" as well, if you know what I mean!

Super Hairy Chest

Like others have said, a hairy body doesn't mean you'll end up bald. I know a guy who's nearly 40, hairy all over (very few people I know are hairier than this guy is) and he still has a full head of hair. And he had a similar nick-name in high school. And he was Steve-Corell-Hairy, too.

And, the gene for baldness is passed on by the mother. Is your mom's dad bald?

Even if your grandpa *is* bald, it doesn't mean you're going to be. And, many people *LIKE* bald men. (And, if you go bald, for god's sake, don't do a "Comb over".... They don't fool anybody.)

(Further, shaving does *NOT* make hair grow back thicker. That's a myth. It just comes out *feeling* thicker 'cause of the cut the razor made.)

There is no correlation between hair on chest equals no hair on head when you're older. Plus, baldness/receding hairline is something you inherit from your maternal side..so if you want to know what your future head of hair might look like look at mom's family...even if it happened to your uncle it doesn't mean it'll happen to you.

As for having a hairy chest there is nothing wrong with that. Nature gives our body hair to keep us warm..well before we had down coats and thermal underwear at least. Whether you have alot or a little is not something you choose but if you're uncomfortable with it than you can choose to shave it but don't feel you have to. There are many professionals who do shave such as swimmers and bicyclists so don't feel bad if you do shave.

Well as for your shaving problem I don't have any advice, it is all just personal preference. But as for the balding, unfortunantly stuff like that is genetic. So if your uncle began balding in high school there is a chance that you will too. You don't know because it depends on which genes you got, but whether you shave or not won't make a difference for that.

Nothing you can do about it.... You are a man, and like the ones that came before you and the ones that will come after you.. Some of us are hairy!!! You should be proud of your physicalities.. Some day you will appreciate it and see it as your own personal manly auroa.. Woman will dig it!!! I'll tell you one thing, certain woman lwill love the hairy men, but don't really expect high scholl girls to appreciate it... They are not real woman, just little girls..

Shaving is not going to help with balding, but it's a personal preference. Some girls like a shag rug, others...well...don't. Either way, it's your call.

no please do not shave your chest.....don't you know that we
women love to chest snuggle.... a hairy chest is sooo sexy...and stop listening to those jerks in the locker room...they are just jealous.......normally baldness runs on the mother's side of the
family but just because there may be some baldness does not
mean that you are going to be bald........besides, didn't you know
that bald is beautiful????? and it is the style nowadays. so stop being so insecure about it. if it happens, it happens and it is not the end of the world........ok?? so just relax baby, you'll be fine

No no no. don't shave! For one thing, you can't possibly shave all over, and besides, fuzzy men are very masculine and sexy. Those guys in the locker room are being smartmouths to disguise the fact that they wish they had all your testosterone! Just ignore them, because it's you the women will want!
