My girlfriend lives in Australia and I went to ship a package to her before her visit over here a few months back. I went to a store who honors USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL.

This difference in shipping prices between USPS versus UPS and FedEx was nearly $75. I asked him why there was such a significant difference in price and he explained the package goes straight through the mail system.

All mail overseas, if sent by another company, will eventually make its way into the hands of the USPS anyway. Therefore, it's much more simple for the USPS to deliver mail. So, I always go with the Post Office on overseas packages being sent.

Send it by US mail. If he has a military address it goes a lot cheaper and the troops mail is a priority for the USPS

Do not send it Fedex, UPS, or any of the other shippers as it will never get there because it will be caught up in customs and cost you a fortune.
