Born-again Christians believe that, by being baptized and accepting Christ as their personal lord and savior, that they are washed clean of what they call "original sin" and that they will be given a place in Heaven. They only do this once, which is directly opposite of say, the Catholic tradition of Confession, where you are absolved of sin by your priest every time you confess.

A born again Christian is one who has asked Jesus to forgive them of their sins and has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. They have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Here are a few verses that describe what a born again Christian should act like.
Eph 20-24 But that isn't what you were taught when you learned about Christ. Since you have heard all about him and have learned the truth that is in Jesus, throw off your old evil nature and your former way of life, which is rotten through and through, full of lust and deception. Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God's likeness - righteous, holy and true.

Remember, God told Adam and Eve that if they disobeyed Him they would surely die. The death they suffered first was spiritual. They were separated from Gods presence. This was not an act of cruelty, but of love. Sin can not exist in Gods presence it will cease to exist. So Adam and Eve where now of a sin full nature and would have perished if they remained in Gods presence. To answer your question; from their one act mankind became spiritually dead to God. God could only communicate to them from above or usually through prophets. Jesus paid the price for their disobedience and when you make Him your Savior, there is a transformation of your dead spirit to a new one. Then they say your spirit is reborn or born again.
(2Corinthians 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If you have a bible handy, read John chapter 3. It talks about what it means to be born again.
Jesus: "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

When Nichodemus came to Jesus and asked him how does one inherit eternal life, Jesus used the illustration of a baby being born to explain it to him. Jesus took something natural (a birth) and used it as an analogy to explain a spritual truth called salvation. Jesus said in John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." 4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?" 5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
This term "born again" has come down to us to mean one who has been saved by Jesus christ, and has entered into a spiritual life and will eventually end up in heaven.

One who is Baptized and received the "New Birth".
3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" - St. Paul to the Christians in Rome - Chapter 6
Jesus: "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

I think oldguy63 answered it well. It is a sacrament by the Baptist church that is accepted by us Catholics. If a Baptist ever wishes to become Catholic, he or she will not be baptisted again. He or she has already been baptisted with Christ in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. A covenant with God can not be broken. You would be suprised how much we have in common. For more info into the Catholic church visit your local parish and inquire about RCIA to learn more about the church.

Is somebody that, as he accepted Jesus as his only Saviour, was baptised with the Holy Spirit, meaning to have chosen to let the old man die and let a new spirit dwell in him. He is a "new creature", made a "son of God".
We believe that God is love. We believe we have a mission in this world: to obey Jesus and to love and help others.

they r christians that "sinned" and werent good christians and then found jesus and were "born again" wen they accepted jesus and were forgiven from all their sins.
for example if a prostitute "found jesus" after being raped and then swore off prostitution and all that and was forgiven for all her sins she would b a born again christian after being baptised.
