How can I make my phone distinquish betweem an incomming call or an incomming fax?

Head down to Radio Shack, they sell little boxes that run between $10 and $40. They take the phone line in on one end, and give you two or more output ports for phones, fax machines, modems, etc... routing the call only to the device that wants it.

Your phone doesn't, your fax does. Run a phone out of the fax phone port. Or you can route the entire home out the Fax phone port. You can also set the fax to auto answer after 4 rings then if it is not a fax attach the answering machine phone to the fax and it will get the message.....
