No. Depending on your age, a normal RESTING heart rate is between 60 and 80 beats per minute. 114 is fine if you were just exercising. But if that is your resting heart rate, I would suggest talking to a doctor.

Pulses are relative to the individual but a 114 is a pretty rapid rate.
As an adult, the preferable rate would be 60 to 90 bpms. If you are an extremely fit athlete, then it wouldn't be a surprise to see your heart rate dip into the 50's and even the 40's (being that your heart is so strong that it requires less pumps to move blood.) A slow heart rate is called bradycardio (<60bpm).

A faster rate like yours would be considered tachycardia (>90 bpms.) It would be best to take your heart rate the very moment you wake up. This is an accurate number since your body was completely at rest and excercise or activity did not alter your resting heart rate. If you forget to do that, just sit and relax for 5 to 10 minutes and take you HR for a full minute.

There may be many reasons contributing to your tachycardia. Caffeine and nicotine speeds the heart rate up. Perhaps you just finished a cup of coffee or a cigarette?

Stress and excitement also raises the HR. Physical activity raises the HR and may stay raised depending on how strong your heart is (the stronger your heart is, the faster your HR returns to normal.) Certain medications like inhalers can increase HR. Even illegal drugs like cocaine.

An increased heart rate can cause complications within many organ systems and shouldn't be taken lightly. If all the factors I've mentioned were not the contributor of your tachycardia. then perhaps you should see a physician.

Hope this helps.

its very high is pulse is measured after 10-15 of rest. See your cardio ASAP.
However if its while doing the atheliect activilty like sprinting , swimming etc , then its normal . Pulse should return to normal of 65-75 in 10 min.

Mine is about that at rest, at least according to the heart rate monitor on the exercise machine...but I am small and smaller people tend to have higher pulse rates.

When I'm working out at a moderate pace my heart rate easily goes above 170-180.

To all others, the normal resting heart range is 60-100 bpm. To get an average take right upon waking in morning for three days in a row. For the most accurate take for 60 sec. and multiply by 1.

Yea, if you just ran around the block or are having sex.

No actually the adult heart beat should be between 70 and 80 beats per min.

That seems high. Mine is about 75 and I can get it lower if I think calm thoughts.
