Exactly. Why does there HAVE to be a God? I've wondered this for awhile. Why can't people accept their mistakes and just move on? Why do we pray for miracles instead of searching for the answers to our own problems? *sigh*

If I was only accountable to myself for my actions, you should be scared.
Self control needs guidance, right? If we are left to just ones opinion, then we could justify anything. Some would be no different, some would have a set of morals way different. If I met a man, in an abandoned town, no witnesses, and he had 10 million dollars, while I was broke...but had a gun....what would happen if I felt the urge to take it, justifying myself with 'he has, I need'....?

That sounds a little self centered and proud to me....but it is your life I guess. Dont Buddhists believe in powers within only, not external?

Well, the Quakers are very religious, and try to follow the "Light Within"; so for them, "God" (variously interpretted, even within Quakerism) is not "external", but an internal reality.
