What has been your experience with prozac? I started it two month ago. When I first began taking it I thought I could tell some difference. I wasn't sleeping so much, had more energy, and I seemed to be less dependant on starbucks. My husband and I have been getting along so much better too. Also, my sex drive decreased, which wasn't so bad because before it was Insatiable. Overall I feel less depressed, but I'm not sure if its the meds or my life in general. I have a new job that I love that I started about the same time I started the meds. My job is demanding which keeps me busy, which keeps my mind occupied (less time to be depressed)....but now I'm back to sleeping all the time, drinking more starbucks then I was before, and back to my old low level of energy. I'm still not depressed, but also not happy. The sex drive is still down, but I don't know if its the Prozac thats keeping me from depression and killing my sex drive or if its my new job that keeps me busy 10 hours + a day.

Why do you have depression? I mean, was it an onset from a truamatic event or chemical? That migth effect it. As for whether it is the meds or the job, let me just say this. It doesn't really matter how great your job is when you are depressed, because when you are depressed you can get the greatest things in the world and still be neutral and upset about it. While keeping your mind off depression is a good thing, i'm thinking that you are feeling better because of your medication. Also, please don't stop it now because you are starting to feel better. Some people stop when they feel better, then they just crash afterwards. If you aren't really happy right now then something is wrong in that anti depressants are supposed to help make you feel better, not just take away the edge. I would suggest talking to your doctor, he might increase the dosage or he might even switch you to a different drug so that you will get even better side effects (i've personally been switched from medication before for depression, it's just so they can find the best one for you). So yeah, give your doc a visit and see what he says.

I was prescribed Prozac and If I could I would have it banned,I took it only once and experienced the most painful headaches ever and thought I was going to die. Other symptoms the next day was complete depression and moody with a very dry mouth. Some people seem to be ok with it but for me on just one tablet it was horrific and refused to take anymore. If you go to google and type in Prozac you will be able to see all the possible effects.

My experience with Prozac has been more positive, however the lower sex drive is said to be common, hasn't bothered me. Prozac was trendy, and I think they give it out too easily. I recommend you get checked out by a real psychiatrist, they have vastly more knowledge then counselors or M.D's It could be you have something else going on, or another med might be better. I know about that from experience.

I took Prozac for 5 years. I definitely noticed a difference when I first started taking it. In a way I didn't like it because it made my ability to express emotion numb. Over time I think my body became used to it and that numbness went away. But with prozac I gained about 20lbs. had severe night sweats, vivid dreaming and always fatigued. I just started Lexapro and it has been fantastic.

It's the prozac. Decreased sexual energy is very common and it does make you feel better.
It's probably making it easier for you to enjoy your job and your husband, and that of course makes you happier too.
If you are fine with the lower sex drive I would definitely keep taking it.

This is why I hate anti-depressants, you don't know if you or the medicine make any changes in your life, always second guessing yourself, it's enough to drive you crazy. I feel sorry for you if you feel like you have to take them, because I took myself off that ****, and I would recommend the same to you.
