For me braces don't hurt at all. Even when getting them put on it didn't hurt. The only thing that hurt was that day and 2 or 3 days after my mouth was really sore but nothing else. To me the spacers hurt more than the braces. As for the foods you can eat.. They tell you not to eat popcorn, hard or sticky stuff, gum, coffee and soda. I can say I've probably broke all those rules. The gum doesn't work so well with braces as it gets stuck in between the brackets. I've broke a bracket two times. Once was with a tortilla chip and once with a frozen meal bar. It might be a good idea to stay away from those things... although I don't know many people who would want to eat frozen meal bars anyways. Good luck with your braces you will be happy you got it done!

You can pretty much eat just about anything. Just make sure that if you have to eat corn on the cob, cut it off the cob first, apples, cut them up into pieces, no caramel apples, no peanut brittle, any sticky candy like caramel or salt water taffy. These will cause the braces to break and will hurt.

It will take time to get used to having the braces in your mouth so give it time. For the pain, try taking some Tylenol or any kind of over the counter pain medication. The pain should go away within a week or so once your mouth gets used to them being there. Good luck! I know they suck really bad!

The pain will go away soon. Eat soft, but healthy foods; soups, salads, cooked veggies, soft fruits, smoothies, etc.

soft stuff like soup. potatoe. Stuff that have little to do with chewing. Ask your parents if you can take an asprin if it hurts too much.

Soft stuff... small pieces of other stuff. Ice cream, juices, soft fruit.. spoil yourself for a week or so until you get used to it.. (it does get better, honest).
