i think there is something wrong with me, like i have to do things over and over again until it is perfect.
For example, if i am writing an essay i have to retrace words again and again till they look right
I also find myself counting the number of steps i take for example i can only take 2,4,11, or 22 steps in a room because these numbers are lucky
I also have to touch things like my food twice with each hand before i eat it
If i look at the clock and if the it is anything with a thirteen in it i have to stare at the clock and only blink twice until the unlucky minute has passed, like if it is 5:13 when i see the clock in need to stare at it till it is 5:14
when i wake up i always need to put my right foot down first
i have to arrange my pillows in a certain order before i can sleep
i have to make sure my right and left half is "equal", if i touch something with my left hand, i have to touch it with my right
if i touch anything with my knee down i have to count to 22InMyHead

It most certainly is my friend. I too suffer from this disorder, but your "rituals" (what my psychologist calls them) are far more severe than mine. My ocd developed as a coping strategy for my anxiety disorder, so the medication I take for the anxiety helps to tame my rituals. You are one of millions who is a slave to the numbers. My number is always a multiple of three. Its gone from 6 to 12 to any multiple of 6 or 3 to any number that has a 6 or a 3 and now it is currently back at just plain three. You have a much more severe case than I, and it is most likely due to the fact that it is a primary disorder for you and not a sideline one, like mine is. I do things like always renting three movies, always having three ice cubes, always checking on things three times... It has gotten much better after several years of medication and psychotherapy (both of which are treatment for my anxiety. When my anxiety is managed, so is my ocd because I do the rituals when my anxiety is high). My advise is to seek out a good psychologist right away. After an initial evaluation and a session or two they will probably refer you to a psychitraist who you will see on a monthly basis for medication. Trust me, you do not want to put off treatment. OCD is time consuming and takes away from the excitement of life. Don't let these rituals consume you, the only way to do this is to get treatment. I know from experience that you will feel 100 times better with medication and therapy. You won't be so obsessive cumpulsive after a few months of treatment. A visit to a shrink once every two weeks is a small price to pay if it will help you live ritual free. If you have any questions you want answered about therapy and or medicine, feel free to ask, I'd be happy to share my experience and answer anything I can.

There is no doubt that that's OCD, go to a doctor and get it treated
SYMPTOMS (taken from wikipedia):
Obsessions are defined by:
1. Recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced at some time during the disturbance, as intrusive and inappropriate and that cause marked anxiety or distress.
2. The thoughts, impulses, or images are not simply excessive worries about real-life problems.
3. The person attempts to ignore or suppress such thoughts, impulses, or images, or to neutralize them with some other thought or action.
4. The person recognizes that the obsessional thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of his or her own mind.
Compulsions are defined by:
1. Repetitive behaviors or mental acts that the person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession, or according to rules that must be applied rigidly.
2. The behaviors or mental acts are aimed at preventing or reducing distress or preventing some dreaded event or situation; however, these behaviors or mental acts either are not connected in a realistic way with what they are designed to neutralize or prevent or are clearly excessive.

Sounds like it to me. While none of the things you mention are classic manifestations of the disorder, the overall effect sounds like OCD to me. See a mental health clinician. You would be surprised what a little medication can do to help. OCD is a disorder caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Medication to correct the imbalance and some talk therapy and you will be as good as new.

Those are all definite signs of ocd. What you're expressing goes beyond being a perfectionist. You might want to seek professional help with this as this type of thing normally gets worse. It can make your life miserable.

I hate to say this, but it's not normal, I wish you luck in fixing this as I've heard it can be rather difficult.
