Supposedly, the urine hunters put out, are from does in estrus/rut.
Seems the bucks go wild, and come a runnin'
It must be something fantastic to them, but it sure stinks to me! Blah!
We used apple piles, and did some rubbing on the trees with them. It worked.

Deer urine works great on deer during the rut. In the early season buck urine would be a great cover scent. During the rut though the best is doe in heat urine because bucks are looking for does in heat. It's also good because when a buck smells a doe in heat he will let his gard down.

Of course, all animals are attracted by the scents left by their counterparts. The most common for deer is a buck attracted by the scent of a doe in heat. But does can be attracted by buck urine also, and not only in the mating season. I think a lot of it is curiosity more than anything else. They can identify other deer by their scent so they are just checking out who is in their territory.

of course deer (bucks) can tell if a doe is in heat by their urine. take it from me because i like to go hunting with my father. any more questions on this just ask.

Indeed it does. So does bloody diarrhea and fur/hair from their scalps! I know this sounds weird and disgusting but it's true! When my family wants to crossbreed deer with other species we use deer urine to attract them to our house and force them to mate! Also saliva and vomit of deer attracts them!

It definately does, we use doe in heat during rut to bring in the big bucks, but the rest of the time we use urine only to cover our scent.
