Serve God by doing what Jesus would do. Is masterbation a sin, if it involves lust then yes. Jesus said whoever looks at a women to lust after her has commited adultery with her in his heart. Obviously every man struggles with it. But its better to mess up and confess you are wrong, then say nothing wrong with it. Of course you need to overcome it, because it is an addiction and the body will never become satisfied. Just remember we will face God one day. So its best you do what you conscience tells you.

So...I always gotta ask this...you say you want to serve GOD (the Great Orange Dog maybe) but what if you went about slaughtering, oh, let's say Pygmies because you believed GOD disliked them and wanted them all killed. THEN, on your deathbed somebody actually proves there's no GOD. Would it have been worthwhile? Why isn't living a normal life enough of a service to GOD?
No, clearly masturbation is not a sin (sin presupposes there's a god that cares that you not do such things - many of the Hindu gods are quite happy with your masturbation so keep up the good work).

Masterbation is not mentioned as sin in scripture unless there is tha availability of the appropriate reseptical available, if there is then it is said to be an abomnable act, even if u use the receptical for the appropriate amssage and do not make a deposit.
To serve God a good place to start is to serve your neighbor, and meanwhile start reading scripture after at least a short prayer for inspiration. Study the scripture and do not just think your preacher has automatically going to give it to you straight and complete.

What Does the Bible Say?
A youth asked: “Is masturbation an unforgivable sin?” Masturbation is not mentioned at all in the Bible. The practice was common in the Greek-speaking world during Bible times, and several Greek words were used to describe the practice. But not one of these words is used in the Bible.
Since masturbation is not directly condemned in the Bible, does this mean it is harmless? Absolutely not! Though it is not classed with such gross sins as fornication, masturbation is surely an unclean habit. (Ephesians 4:19) The principles of God’s Word thus indicate that you “benefit yourself” by strongly resisting this unclean habit. Isaiah 48:17.
Jehovah God so created males that, when they do not engage in sexual intercourse, they will from time to time spontaneously emit semen during sleep. This emission is often accompanied by an erotic dream, hence the expression “a wet dream.” Since the emission usually occurs at night, it may also be called a “nocturnal emission.”
do the Christian Greek Scriptures say anything about masturbation? No, they do not discuss the subject. Not even wet dreams are mentioned. But does that mean that the Christian Greek Scriptures give no direction in forming a proper attitude toward masturbation? No, it does not. Consider Colossians 3:5, which reads: “Deaden, therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness.” And 1Â Thessalonians 4:4, 5 says: “Each one, should, get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in covetous sexual appetite such as also those nations have which do not know God.” Such counsel applies to married Christians as well as to those who are single, but even more restraint needs to be exercised by single persons since finding relief of passion by sexual relations is limited to those who are married.

The word masturbation is not used in the bible, however the acts involved in it and the media you used can be categorized as unclean and moreover immoral..Many have said in their answers, oh well you are just with yourself and not with someone else - but what gets you to the point of masturbation and the act itself is of importance.
Look up Ephesians 4:19...loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness.
To serve God and live a peaceable life, well it takes many things and would require much effort but I would suggest starting with prayer because masturbation can become an addiction.

Here's a no nonsense approach to living for God:
1) Trust Him.
2) Just figure that if there is a sin to be blamed of, your guilty of it.
3) Remember that Christians are not Christians because they are perfect about anything. It's because they > See 1) .
4) Read the Bible and know what to trust Him about.
5) endure what comes your way and always lean on His word, reference to 1) and 4) .
That's pretty much it.

You can cause yourself many problems (if you're a guy) later in life if you do not use your prostate regularly. This is not usually a problem for a young guy who is regularly spanking it, or for a married man who has a healthy sex life, but the sexually repressed are ripe for such problems. Your religion may end up costing you a lot of comfort later in life or it could cause your prostate to end up killing you. THAT would be the sin.
As far as the god part, don't worry, there are no such things as gods.

You just do it. In every moment be thinking of Him in every activity. It is just something you practice and gradually it becomes natural. Masturbation puts one on the bodily plat from which will only bring one more suffering. It is only pleasure based on illusion. Not real temporary ends in misery. That's the Vedic verdict. One should ween oneself like any addiction it's just a vice, bad habit, creates bondage to the material world.
