I'm just wondering, I see conflicting articles everywhere on the net. My aunt leads a normal life, but was just diagnosed a few years ago after however long she actually had it. My boyfriends mother was diagnosed in '96, after years of being mislead by unqualified doctors (her husband is even a doctor).

While my aunt has a normal life, his mother walks with a cane and fatigues very easily. I'm not sure if this could affect her overall health in the long run.

I have multiple sclerosis. People with multiple sclerosis have near normal life expectancies. The disease is very rarely fatal. Nobody has ever withered away from this disease or died at the time of onset. You can read anything you want about MS by just typing National Multiple Sclerosis Society into your web browser. This site is the most informative site that I have ever found. Multiple Sclerosis can be a very difficult disease to diagnose. It took ten years for me to be diagnosed. The symptoms are similar to many other diseases and the symptoms can vary immensely from individual to individual. Hence it is not easily identifiable.

Hi there. I have MS. And from what I was told and have read and so on, the life expectancy is almost normal, a little shorter, but that isjust an average of the people. And most people don't die from MS. Like most diseases. people don't die from the disease, they die from the complications of a disease. It is hard to get diagnosed sometimes, there are soo many other problems out there that MS can mimic. Your Aunt may not always lead a normal life, sorry to say, I know that is a possibility for me, but with the medications it helps that much longer. Because it is so unpredictable there is no real telling what will happen. Good luck to your aunt, and its really good of you to be concerned about her. thanks for that too.

It really varies, no one really knows, there are so many people afflicted with it, and it takes years for the disease to even be diagnosed...I am sure you have heard of Montel Williams, he was diagnosed not long ago..I know he is trying to find ways to bring more attention to this illness, maybe if you tried contacting him, or just do some research on it yourself onlline. I hope this helps.Good Luck and God Bless both your aunt and your boyfriends mom.

Ya know, It varies really. Some can die on the onset of M.S. and some can live for 10-15 years. Its really hard to say. Even your Doctor cant tell you how long you have to live. M.S. does not just go away, there is no cure. It will worsen, and its not minus 7 years anything! Ive been taking care of people with M.S. some have died, some cant even walk to get out of bed. They are in wheelchairs, with no mobility whatsoever, theyre sight goes too. what M.S. is, is hardened grey patches on the Myelin Sheath. It hardens and hardens, it wont get any better! But life expectancy is only pending on the severity of each case. sorry to hear about your aunt. If she has episodes, where she acts crazy, and hateful, just remember its only the M.S.
OK, So, how does anyone know if anyone has / or has not died from M.S. I think that people are misinformed, wheather you have M.S. or not.

Check out Prokarin on the internet. I have had good reports on it from some friends in Albuquerque, NM. It is supposed to be very helpful in some kinds of MS.
Also look up Colamine (Calcium AEP) which is used in Europe and has had some good press there.
Mona Vie Juice helps some MS people with their malaise and fatigue.
Good luck!

It depends upon the progression of the disease and your other health factors.
Some live a full life with little complications and others wither away fast.
