The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.
Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

I'm curious about why you gained weight really fast. Perhaps it just seemed fast to you. You would be better off speaking to a doctor about what has been causing you to gain weight. If he can diagnose that problem for you then you should be able to reverse the action and lose it much easier. Some people eat when they are depressed and it turns into a visous cycle. You get depressed about something so you eat and then you get depressed because you're gaining weight and just eat more! See what I'm saying? Now, if you can figure out for yourself what started you gaining the weight and if it's stress or depression maybe you can work it out for yourself. Exercise is a good anti-stress and depression buster! Good luck co-gainer/wannabe loser!

The old fashioned advice is the best, eat fewer calories, exercise more. With that in mind I would recommend you begin swimming. Swimming has a double edged benefit. First, it is a great aerobic activity that can burn an average of 450 calories per hour. In addition to this being in water that is slightly chilly (as most pools are say 70-75 F ) your body works to keep you warm, which burns fat. However if you are not loosing weight in 3 months than you should consult a dietitian to discuss how to improve your diet.

Increase protein intake.
Decrease fat - but do not eliminate it! Eat things that are 1-2% fat.
Eat whole grains, fruits and veggies.
Cut down on any sugary things. Also stuff made from white flour.
Excercise an hour a day at your local gym - half hour weight (lighter weight, more reps= no injuries) and half hour aerobics.
You will see great results in about 4 weeks with little hunger. If you are hungry, eat more healthy food - just stop when you are feeling satisfied (not very full, not stuffed, but just satisfied).
Good luck. Oh - and stay away from scales - judge by your clothing.

It's takes longer to lose weight than it is to gain it. Since a pound is equal to 3600 calories, if you eat an extra 3600 calories a day over your required caloric intake, you'll gain a pound a day ... but it's impossible to eat 3600 calories FEWER a day. See? The fastest way is a low-calorie diet, limiting fats and carbs ( but not cutting them out completely); and regular aerobic exercise combined with weight training. If you starve yourself, your metabolism will slow down and you'll just have even more trouble losing weight.

Well, the true blue answer is that if you want to be successful with the weight staying off then you should eat healthy and exercise and lose gradually. But I will vouch for Phentermine (Adipex) and Herballife shakes. I lost a LOT of weight on the Phentermine but when I un-expectedly had to quit I really ballooned. So if you are gonna take Phentermine then be smart after stopping: gradually come off of them and stay on top of some diet plan.

Always easier to gain than it is to loose. Plus losing weight too fast will most likely mean that you will just gain it back.

I lost 30 pounds in just over 40 days on a natural and healthy weight loss plan that is easy to use. I didn't skip meals or have to buy or eat special foods. It worked and is still working great for me. I now have my life and health back at the age of 45
