I often hear this cheap talk from politicians and other "policy makers". Yet they don't have the guts to legislate mandatory seat belts for school buses (where 17,000 children are injured each year - most injuries due to the lack of restraining belts) or provide adequate healthcare for low to middle income children. Am I the only one who cringes when I hear such doublespeak in the media?

no your not the only one..politicians put laws out that we have to have our children buckled in cars, but when they go to school on buses, there is no safety there..whats wrong with that? and i agree with the health care..if i didnt have insurance through work, i wouldnt be able to afford it elsewhere..and im a single parent..

I don't think you're the only one who cringes. I laugh when I hear those politicians say that crap. It gets them voted for, it gets them money, that's all they care about. I remember when lottery dollars were supposed to only go to the schools. Nobody cares. They have bills to pay, work to do. Our daily lives keep us distracted from pursuing the right way of living.

Those who try to make a change are considered the trouble makers or cult leaders. They are the minority. No one cares about them.

Keep in mind it's easier to get ignorant people to do what you want.

At my daughter's school, the buses are so over crowded that some students have to ride the bus standing up. Too many ppl give the false pretence that "our" children are first priority, if this was true then why the teenage pregnancy, teen alcoholics, teen drug addicts and teens being abused in our country?

What REALLY gets me is the fact CPS can take a child from the home for proof of physical abuse, but not proof of mental and emotional abuse! That drives me insane. So many people do not think kids are actually people, but they are, and everything said to kids sticks with them. What would the government do about that?
