Well, here's the deal. I'm 18 and really feel uncomfortable talking to my mom about this stuff. I was just wondering what the average size of a vaginal hole is, considering the girl is a virgin and hasn't used a tampon or anything. I have been getting a little worried as of lately. Can any of you women see the "hole" itself, in a relaxed position? The thing is, when pressure is exerted on mine, then it slightly opens up. It also looks small. So, what's the average size supposed to be? Mine looks to be about the size of a straw, but when it stretched to that size, it begins to hurt a little. I've only recently began questioning what is "normal" and when I look down there, you basically see NO hole, but once I push against the flesh, it opens up. I can place one finger in, not comfortably, and certainly not pleasurably. I will go to a gyno when I am 21, but right now, I am just curious. Anything is appreciated

If you're bold enough to ask complete strangers on Yahoo, why aren't you able to discuss it with a doctor? You should be seeing one anyways, at least once a year.
The bottom line is that you're probably completely normal.
As for the discomfort you experience, think of it this way- when you stretch your legs (or any other part of your body) and you're not accustomed to stretching, there will of course be discomfort. Why? Your legs aren't used to flexing. Eventually, with further stretching, the muscles in your leg become flexible. This is the same for every other part of your body.
Yes, I am a man. So what? Does that mean I'm not allowed to have knowledge or insight into these things?
I don't understand why others think questions like these are "gross". Let's get a little mature here.

Yes, it is time to see a gyno at this age, scary, but due. The time to get this, and probably many other questions that you have answered is before you become sexually active, because the best choices are the informed choices, and soon you will be making some of these choices.
It can be difficult to begin talking to someone about things that are not usually discussed, but you have the responsibility to yourself, and your future children, to develop this skill.
If you do not want an exam with a speculum, explain that to the doctor so the risks can be talked about. Also, if are not sexually active yet, there is a immunization that you need to talk about to keep you from getting cervical cancer. Good luck.

If you are 18, you should be seeing a gyno. Also, if you are really curious, you can see pictures online (medical pictures, not porno ones) to see if yours is "normal." (Even on wikipedia)
Remember that just like most other things on the body, there are different sizes for different people.

If you feel there is something wrong or to small with it go to a gynecologist now for a consult. If you are still a virgin it will be a bit smaller. I don't know if there is an average but everyone is different.

It stretches. Your fine. And for goodness sake, your old enough, go to the gyno now, she can measure you (its part of a standard exam) and tell you exactly.

Get a grip. Nobody wants to hear this. Why didn't you start exploring yourself sooner? What's wrong with tampons??

That is why losing your virginity is painful. It stretches. Duh, women have baby's. Watermelon out of a walnut hole. Got to the ob/gyn already.
