You know how most airlines have a 50lb limit on each suitcase you check, I was just wondering whats the best way to fit a lot in a suitcase without going over your 50lb limit. Rolling them or just folding them regularly. thanks =]

and yes im aware that 50lbs is 50lbs but will my suitcase be heavier if i roll them because some people say you can fit more and what not and if you can fit more by rolling then its obvious it will be over 50lbs im just asking for personal opinions.

It won't weigh any more or less if you roll or pack flat. Depending on the type of bag you are using, you could theoretically fit MORE if you packed it flat (or rolled). I honestly think packing very flat is the best method.

The clothes weigh the same whether you roll them or lay them flat.

I lay them flat because it is easy to get more in the suitcase but I put some rolls around the perimeter of the suitcase to fit into the corners. If you put a lot in the suitcase then sit on top and zip it up

you can weigh the bag before you go to the airport and be sure of the weight.

Rolling your clothes will really give the maximum packing space - meaning that you'll be able to fit more clothes into one suitcase / thus making it weigh more. The more clothing items you put into your suitcase (regardless of how they are placed in there) - the heavier it suitcase will be. If you are worried - then weigh your suitcase BEFORE you go to the airport (the extra fees suck so try and avoid them).

ROTFL

Well, it is possible to get more in a suitcase by tightly rolling the clothes so I guess that is the answer, yes you could go over the limit by rolling your own.

Wow... You know that a clothes weigh the same, whether you fold it or roll it, right??? So pack your suitcase, and get on a scale... Subtract your weight, and that's the weight of the suitcase... Adjust your packing as needed...

50 lbs is 50 lbs whether it is rolled or folded- that's called phsyics, if you can still lift in easily then your probably under your limit. I find I fit more when I roll them but then I need an iron when I get there.

Let me get this straight - you want to know whether 50 pounds of clothing folded is lighter that 50 pounds of clothes rolled. Hmmm, thats a tough one.

Whichever way you do it, you must keep in mind the 50lb limit. A clue: a shirt is 0.5lb, a pair of snickers is 1.0lb, so good luck as you do the math.

I roll my clothing because i visit practice an afternoon's outfit and purely pull out the roll and understand that that is all i choose for that day. It relies upon on how a lot you're bringing. each so often rolling is way less annoying and in many situations laying them is way less annoying.

You're serious, aren't you? Do you think rolling them squeezes the air out and makes them lighter? 50 lb. is 50 lb. whether rolled or flat.
