Do you still say this occasionally? Does your priest require you to say this in Confession?

I do. I always do. And I always require it.

No act of contrition....no absolution.

I remember it very well, and the priest does indeed require it in Confession. More than that, however, in my church we also say it together at Mass. I like the communal aspect of it.

I do remember "The Act of Contrition" but at our church we all say the prayer together before we go into confession so that we can focus on what we are there for and not about worrying about sayting the prayer correctly. In case you are wondering what it is here is the one we pray:
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against You, whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend,
With Your help,
To do penance,
To sin no more,
And to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In His name my God have mercy.

Amen

I remember it vaguely. It's been so long since I was a Catholic.
