Well,I feel the same with you. To answer your question, brick walls are more sturdy and represent imprisonment. If you are cluster phobic, then you might understand why brick walls are not relaxing
Glass buildings are more today, so they look high-technological. So they show you that time is moving and we are improving, so it keeps you happy.

Olds bricks can look very nice, however, they tend to accumulate dust and grime from air pollution. this tends to make them look gritty and dingy. Glass buildings reflect light and are always bright and shiny. they also tend to be cleaned more frequently since nobody wants to look out dirty windows. Bricks in the city almost never get pressure cleaned.

Everyone's perception is different, of course, but I'll hazard a guess and say that it's because glass reflects light, and brick doesn't.

Brick walls make it seem enclosed and shadow everything, glass buildings let light through so its bright and sometimes you can see straight through them making the area seem bigger.

brick walls make you subconciously think, brick, old, decrepit, crumbly, depressing.
glass buildings are all shiny, smooth, perfect, happy.
