The U.S. of A. was founded on deistic principles at best...("We hold these truths to be SELF EVIDENT" - no mention of Scripture or Commandments!!)
The Establishment Clause in the Constitutuion is pretty clear. "Congress shall make no law...."
It's pretty simple, really. We were not founded on specifically Christian principles.

They are all the Laws that we need to remember. Christian Principals are the Foundation of America. Years ago, Adultry was a crime. Slander was a crime, Bearing False , gossip against our neighbors is a crime . America does not worship any other God. Killing, Stealing, to covet our neighbor, is a crime. Remember the Sabbath Day. Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother. In America we work hard to obey all the Commandments. You need no further explanation. This is it. Take it or leave it.

Because stupid people found it offensive years ago. and now i cant remember the name but theres a group out there that is very good at getting christianity out of an public things that they can. Peoples fellings were being hurt because they were offended but i dont think that should matter because we were founded on the 10 commandment and personally i think it should stay that way.

america wasn't founded on christianity. in fact a lot of our forefathers were athiest, or probably agnostics, due mainly because of the enlightenment. Jefferson was an athiest. he wrote in the declartion that God had ordained us with inalienable rights. i think this was an effort to mean whoever your god is. but remember that jefferson was writing to the king of england, and we all know the king of england believed in god.
morality has usually been closely driven by religious guidelines, and laws usually adhere to morals because we hold morals to be an important part of society. so, its no wonder that some laws resemble religious doctrines. but make no mistake, seperation of church and state was meant to keep the state out of the church, but also the church out of the state. we deemed a freedom of religion to american citizens, therefore as a representative government, it can not be influenced by religion so there is not a misrepresentation.

At least three of them are laws. In some states four and some others five are.
1. You shall not murder
2. You shall not steal
3. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
4. You shall not commit adultery (still on the books in some states and grounds for divorce in most)
5. Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy (blue laws still on the books in Mass and other statres. My father spent the night in jail for driving a tractor-trailer on Sunday.)

Funnanna is correct. Man changed it not GOD. America wanted to seperate church from government so they couldn't allow laws from a specific religous principle.

Hats off - you have an excellent question - but the 10 commandments were for Moses and his people - it is not for us - we follow the New Testament.

I think there are more than 2. Cheating on your spouse, Killing, taking things that aren't yours, lying while in court. The first 4 commandments are about honoring God and his day. And 1 is about honoring your parents.
