In the past, people lived near the river transporting their food or other things by boat, just across the river, but till now, some bridge build, more funtions for these ferryboats are for travelling and sightseeing.

If the water was free flowing they would use boats. However, if it was frozen they would use sleds to transport things on the river. That was in the past. Nowadays they use bicycles, motorcycles, vans, trucks, trains, and planes where boats can't go. In the rural areas they still use horses, donkeys, oxen, or camels for transporting goods.

Some facts, most Chinese people spit on the street, road, floor, etc. I'm not trying to discriminate, okay? i'm just giving you my opinion. I'm Asian and i've been to China. Uhm... The bathrooms aren't that hygienic, but they'll do. I hope this helps! And oh, China is COLD.
