the first time you give him cereal, just add a little bit to the formula so it is very soupy and runny. gradually add more and more, until it is the consistency of oatmeal. some babies do fine with it thicker right away, but many need time to adjust. check out the book Super Baby Food for some great tips and ideas!

if you want to try other foods, great starters include bananas, sweet potatoes, and avacados. make sure everything is well mashed, and like the cereal, at formula to make it thinner until your baby can handle it straight. keep in mind you should only introduce one new food a week, to keep an eye out for food allergies.

Check the rice cereal pack, it should have instructions on how to mix the two.

You need to start out real thin to see how your baby will react. Then you can slowly add more, eventually get to a paste.
