inspired by God to these men), then why are so many inclined to believe the more modern day foretellers, like Nostradomus, and also fortune tellers, etc. but will not believe the Prophets of God simply because they are in the Bible? The OT Prophets have had their prophecies, which are in detail, to come to pass, what better proof is that? Also, if you read NT and OT prophecey carefully, you can see more ready to be fulfilled.

Because in the last days, men will gather around them teachers who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth of the Almighty God and exchange it for the lie: evolution. Because to read and/or believe any of God's Word means they can no longer live in their sin and rebellion, and because they will be reminded of the inevitable judgement of God
Because in reality most are happier to reject the Lord and be without Him. Therefore, unless they repent and are saved, that's exactly what they'll get for all of eternity in the Lake of Fire..
Contrary to what some may say, none of the Bible can be proven to be untrue/false. Actually, the opposite is true. Numerous writings in the Bible have been verified through archaeology and other forms of real science. The biggest, most blatant fulfilled Biblical prophecy is the Nation of Israel and its people, the Jews

I'm pretty sure most people dismiss Nostradamus and "fortune tellers" as well.

And I've read some of the "prophecies" and they still don't convince me. They strike me as Nostradamus-style writings where the passages are vague enough that they can fit a bunch of different situations. If there was a direct reference to 9/11 or World War II or something, that'd be one thing, but really, what has the Bible predicted? And more importantly, why are some of these events taking two millennia to actually happen?

1. Any prophecy that is self-fulfilling is not a prophecy.
2. Any 'prophecy' that is in the OT and is in a NT work, the author of which had access to the OT, is not a prophecy.
3. Any 'prophecy' that predicts an inevitable event is not a prophecy.
4. Any prophecy that cannot be fulfilled is not a prophecy.
5. Any prophecy that doesn't reference anything specific is not a prophecy.

...yep. That covers every single claim in the Bible, from what I've read and seen.

Nice try.

....actually, no. That wasn't a nice try. We've been there, done that, and got the goddamn T-shirt.

Well the problem with prophecies like the ones taken from Nostradamus files are merely associations with events that have taken place, not a prophecy at all. Fortune tellers, horoscope, palm readers and the likes are jesters from questions asked as the reading was going on or generalized events that can happen to anyone, that is just fun and games.

Taken prophecies from the bible and making them happen is the same thing as seeing the future, because the events listed can very well happen history can tell you that, so again it's merely associations with events that have taken place, not a prophecy at all. Now to read the bible and say next week Jesus is coming and it happens now that prophecy.

Don't expect too many people to agree with you. The Bible gets a bad rap these days as irrelevant and even obsolete. Odd, because if it had nothing important to say to people it wouldn't still be around after all these years. Whether you accept the words as divinely inspired or not, it's a book with a message that still applies today.

People believe what the parents believe when they were at a very young age. If the parents taught their children well about NT then they would be a follower of NT. The early beliefs handed down by parents to their children is called Dogma, and it is not require proof.

A rational person doesn't believe anything simply because it's written in a book unless there is proof to back it up. Not only is there not proof for 99.9 per cent of the bible, but most of it can be directly proven incorrect. A book that states so many errors, fallicies, contradictions and such cannot be used as a valid source at any point in time ... and because of that, should also not be used as a defense or arguement for a code of conduct or behavior.
