That is usually the tendons that pop and ususlly means nothing. As long as you aren't putting the knees through a lot of repettitive motions which can, over time, cause problems with the knees. Yoga, pilates and those exercises are less stressful on the joints. Usually if there is no pain you don't need to worry. It's normal. If you start to feel pain, stop and see the Dr. Good luck.

Popping in your knees when you exercise can occur for a variety of different reasons. Usually it is the back surface of the patella (knee cap) rubbing against the front of the femur. It is supposed to move within a groove in the femur but if you have muscle tightness, weakness, postural abnormalities, poor body mechanics, etc it can contribute to this. I would consult with a Physical Therapist in your area who could examine you and assess your biomechanics and many other things that could be contributing to your problem.

you may have arthritis, or problems w. your cartalige or endeons around your knee. You need to get it checked out. To continue to exercise w/o knowing why could actually do more damage to them. However, the biggest treatment for joint issues is to loose weight. Talk to the dr first to make sure that it is ok first.

that's the sound of the patella (kneecap) rubbing against your thigh bone or your lower leg bones... It just means you don't have alot of cartilage in your knee, which could lead to problems later in life
