I've been living with my boyfriend for 3 years, together for 4 yrs. he comes up with excusses why he shouldn't engage me.
I just want to be engaged for a few years before marriage! it's not like I'm asking to get married tomorrow.
Is this normal? why does he do this? how long did you date before getting engaged?

He might just not be that into you. If he's not ready, he's not ready. You cannot force it; otherwise it will end.

sounds familiar been with my boyfriend for 8 and not married, he says he hears rumors that peoples relationships change when they get married invoving them to split up, maybe he feels the same or he's not ready for a commitment, most people get engaged after a year or two

he's afraid of the commitment, like most men. Marriage is over rated anyway.

Lots of guys are afraid of comittment talk to him about it and find out his reasoning when he's calm and relaxed
