Usually only if the student is a non-trad (didn't go to college right out of highschool) so that they have a credit history and you must have a job that you've held for a while.

For undergraduates, it's highly unlikely you'll get one without a cosigner. Generally speaking, you need to meet the 2-2-2 rule:

- 2 years of GOOD credit history
- 2 years of full time employment
- 2 years of US citizenship

Graduate students may meet these qualifications.
