how to charge ipod?

ok my son wants an ipod/ipod nano for christmas now in hearing it needs to get charged from the computer....is dis true or can we charge it from a regular charger because at the time his comp is down and i have a laptop so im not quite sure how does it work?

HELP!!!!!

if you get the Ipod you have to charge it on the computer unless you buy a wall outlet adapter that converts it to be able to charge on the wall

It can be charged by either the computer or a wall outlet.
