Im going on a date with this guy. He's one of my really close friends. I've known him since i was in third grade but i never really looked at him as more than a friend until recently. He just told me that he liked me and that he wanted to take me out on date. Do you think its a good idea to be going out with my best friend?

Yes. It's sometimes better to be going out with your best friend. You tolerate them more, you're more yourself with them, they know more about you and are closer to you. It makes an ideal relationship. However, watch out. If you two decide to break up, make sure you don't say the classic, "Let's just stay friends." That hurts the most. Try and keep all communication lines open, make sure you two know what's going on in each other's lives, and just have a good time. Don't stress it.

i think that is so sweet. i can see how you would have worries though. the last thing you want to do is ruin your friendship. on the one hand it could turn into something wonderful on the other hand if it doesnt work if your such good friends than you should be able to get past it and still be best friends, right? if not than maybe its a good idea not to go furthur than friends

It's great! If you guys are still friends after this long, then you are definitely compatible. It might be a little akward at first, but it will get better.

If it works then you will be great together. If it doesn't then your friendship will never be the same
