Thanks for the help but it is definately not a 'blood metalic taste' more like ummm ... an iron or rust taste.

Some medicines can cause a metallic taste, but I don't think a filling would be the problem.
Since you didn't list any other symptoms, try these websites, or google the questions.

I have also experienced a metallic taste in my mouth. I described it to a nurse that it was like chewing on aluminium foil. The nurse informed me that it can be a result of dehydration, I have since increased my intake of water and the taste has disappeared.

If you have metal fillings, this could be a cause. If you see blood, then your gums may be diseased or puffy. You can have your dentist check it out. If he finds nothing wrong with your mouth, then it may be something else. Then you should talk to your doctor.
Good luck!

Could be alot of things from fillings in teeth to pregnancy to medications, to anemia, to lupus. This is just a few. If it continues to be bothersome, contact your doctor. They can better understand and send for tests that can determine what the problem is. Good luck.

You hit it on the head when you mentioned too much iron. That was the only thing which made me have that taste in my mouth.
If you are on vitamins find one with less iron. (You would know if it was something to do with your teeth.)

I've read about that, never had it. Its one serious symptom of several things- its important. You need a doctor to answer this.
