Why is it the Majority of Wiccans are posting under Myths and Folklore and not under Religion? Wicca is a recognised religion, so why is it that we dont post here?

They were attacked by Christians and left because they were too upstanding to respond to the insults. It is our loss, not theirs. Most of them were very wise and kind people...

I have a feeling its because if we posted in the Religions/Spirituality section, as we rightfully deserve to, every question would be bombarded by at least five times as many "Reject the devil and come back to God" answers as real ones for the questions. I already see enough of that even in the Mythology/Folklore section! It's insane.

I don't see why we shouldn't post there, but I understand why some choose not to. Plus, mythology and folklore have always been important to Wicca- there is no one pantheon for Wiccans, but a wide array taken from various mythologies, so . . . I can see why they post there. Depends on the question, I suppose. Plus, I think a lot of people don't, actually, see Wicca as a religion, which has all sorts of nasty connotations of being organized and stuffy, but rather as a spirituality (and I think it's more like that, too, given that there are so many different ways to practice it).

Just my opinion!

Well, the last time a Christian mistakenly emailed me (he misinterpreted an answer I gave and assumed I was also Christian), and I pointed out politely to him that I was Wiccan, he got quite brusque with me and I had to tell him I'd report him if he kept emailing me. I also get an awful lot of thumbs down when I answer general religion & spirituality questions that are "supposedly" open to people of all faiths.

I would imagine that many of us go to the Myths & Folklore section because they don't look for us there. I certainly haven't been looking for us there, and it's been bothering me that more of us aren't under R&S. At least now I know where we are! :-)

Bright blessings.

I'm Wiccan and I post in here, but I think the reason why a lot of them don't is because of people like Purpleaura. It just gets old after a while.

Your right, and I noticed the same thing. And it is because of the people like Purple, who were told to love one another and thought that only meant other Christians.
If I asked a Wiccan question, I'd have to sort out from all the haters (who often sit and wonder why Christians are also attacked, 3 fold law probably) to get the real answers.

Maybe because they have better things to do, so just don't post as often as christians. Religion should be about living life to it's fullest, not spending every day chained to a computer.
Of course, I'm a backslider, and get hooked in here more often than I should be.

We tend to get bad-mouthed less in Myths and Folklore. Sad I know, but not much we can do.

Because of people like UNI Panther, who don't realize that "recognized religion" means it is "recognized by the government of the United States as a religion", and therefore subject to the exact same rules and eligible for the exact same benefits as Christianity,Islam,Judaism, and a number of other religions. Blessed Be.

I post here certainly. Maybe, as a previous poster mentioned, they simply don't like being attacked. Perhaps some of them aren't really armed. Perhaps some of them are immature in their faith, having only read "To Ride A Silver Broomstick" rather than some of the meat and potatoes of the faith. (I guess that places them on par with a number of immature Christians as well).

I guess it's like any religion... it takes a great deal of study and effort to gain knowledge and wisdom to become secure and strong in your faith.
