Alright, my computer came with a Sonic Cineplayer, and for months its been working great. But for some reason it's currently not working right. It'll load up the DVD, tell me what it has in its database, and it'll start to load the DVD to play it but after the screen goes black it goes back to the "Play, Resume, Reject" options. Anybody know how to fix this?

Join the club...my computers doing the exact same thing at this moment. There was another person who had this problem, and asked (a few minutes ago)....search for Cineplayer on here, and maybe someone will be able to help us.

The good news: It is not a bad dvd. It is not a bad dvd drive. It is not a bad driver for the drive.
The bad news: It is a messed up software glich. Same thing just happened to me and I spent 3 hours will Dell tech support trying to figure it out. You can try a system restore (it worked for another person) back to a date when cineplayer worked. What I did is I downloaded another dvd media player software- specifically Cyberlink Power DVD, available from Cnet.com. I have no idea about why that worked, but that is what Dell suggested that I do, so I tried it- and suddenly both Cineplayer and Windows media player (also on the fritz on my computer) both started working again. There is something wrong with Sonic software lately and it seems to have crossed over into their dvd programs- it was just their burning software a few weeks back. I think there is an incorrect or incomplete update that is going around because this is now happening much more frequently. Hope this helps!

hi all. i just happened to have the same problem. i asked dell and this is what they had to say. i have downloaded the appropriate software, but have yet to try it out... **IT WORKS**

Me: i am currently experiencing a problem using my CinePlayer and Windows Media Player. I can't watch a DVD now, when i was able to previously and was wondering if there was a fix for it.

Them: Yes a Microsoft patch came out on the 1st that changed the decoder. There is a free-codec we have been using until a patch is released.

Download the Basic version. Microsoft is currently working on a fix that's supposed to be released as a priority update. After the fix is released you can uninstall this Codec pack.

Hope this helps!

Try other DVDs first. See if they work.

Something very similar happened to me. In the beginning it would work only sometimes after long tries, but it eventually gave up. I ended up calling the technical support for the DVD drive (since it was purchased separately) and I ended up sending it in since it was within the warranty. I like to tinker with things, but there wasn't really much I could do.

I presume your video card is okay? You can play downloaded video okay? Check to see if there is a solution on the website. Try several DVD, as well as CDs. If none of them work, update the drivers. If that doesn't help, remove and re-install the drive. If it still doesn't work, a new one is not terribly expensive.

Try another DVD, that one may be damaged.
