You might have OCD or Obsessive-Cumpulsive Personality Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder: Characterized by perfectionism and inflexibility; preoccupation with uncontrollable patterns of thought and action.

Constant rewashing the hands
Constant rearrangment of objects
Constantly checking actions (eg, relocking doors)

Repetitive behaviors or mental exercises that the individual feels compelled to do in response to the obsessive thoughts. This behavior is carried out in an effort to prevent or reduce stress and is clearly excessive.

check with a doctor. good luck :)

you might have a disease, you can also learn to accept yourself, if this things really bother you then see a doctor and take medication for it. On the other hand you could just live with it, I also wash the dishes in almost the same order, and stack cans and stuff from bigger to smaller. I work at a university, in the anatomy department, and I order bones the same way, I just can´t help it, but when someone comes in the storage room they are always pleased at how neat it looks, and that makes me happy. I also count tiles on the floor, dots per tile and then I multiply them by the number of tiles and get an average of dots per room. But for me those are just things I do, I do not let them take over my life, and if things are not perfect I can accept it.
If you can learn to live with your counting, then you should be fine, and if you think you cannot then go to a doctor, but know you do not HAVE to.

Some of what you are doing is oK...Your home is immaculate.

I have an engineering back round, therefore very thing must be in order...Tall Cans, Medium cans, small cans.

You seem to be exhibiting a compulsion...the repeated counting.

We need not label this activity at this time...even guess.

See your Primary Care Physician. There are many Medications to alleviate and reduce many of these symptoms.

And just think of it.....Soon, you will use your talents for more constructive efforts.

I was always impressed viewing the Movie and reading the Book:

A Beautiful Mind.

Your mind is Beautiful...it just needs to be re-directed.

Best to you.

Sounds like Obsessive-Compulsive disorder...get some help. If it is causing you to stress..making you miserable then do something about. There is a lot of effective treatments for it. You may have the personality disorder which is much harder to treat, but you can manage it if you really want to. It will take some work on your part. Obsessions= continuous, uncontrollable thoughts. Compulsions= are the behaviors that follow the thoughts. You feel if you dont complete the ritualistic behaviors your world will crumble or fall apart. Its classic. Its treatable. Get help if you want it.

sounds like obsessive-compulsive disorder. everybody has something that they are "anal" about, it's only a problem if it affects the quality of your life or if you get stuck in routines, like counting, and then cant move on. meds can help, so can therapy. talk to your doctor.
