Seek your inspiration from the people who need help the most. Look at sub-saharan Africa, and the lifestyles of the people. Can simple, inexpensive machines made from everyday items make their lives easier? How about a bicycle water pump? Or a solar cooker? Or a mud-refrigerator? Or a tree-based antenna system? Or a cloth-filter water purification system? Or hand-cranked radios? Or a more efficient, human-powered millet-mill? Open your eyes and look outside north america - the opportunities to contribute to mankind are endless. Good luck!
