alot of people hit deer up here. One time a crow flew in front of my car and I couldn't aviod him. The poor guy clipped one wing off and flew in weird zig zag pattern in a panic coming closer and closer to the ground. I didn't stop cause he went pretty far into the field. I was going hiway speed and didn't see him land. Wouldn't have found him . Poor guy...

I have hit plenty of deers in my driving life. I live pretty much a wooded area so tons of deers are everywhere. You have to be careful and my latest one.

A year ago. I was driving on the highway and this deer just comes out of no where. I slammed on my brakes and hit it, it came through the windshield. Luckily, I wasn't injured or anything because it was the passenger side. I was perfectly fine and now I pay plenty of attention.

What I hit falls under the "other" category.
About 4 yrs ago my family and I were traveling at night in a Pontiac Montana and we hit a 1500 lb moose. The van was totaled. Wife had a broken nose and I had a few cuts from the windshield. The two children in the middle seat (in car seats one was 3 months the other almost 2 yrs) were unharmed. Law enforcement said it was the 3rd moose hit during a two week span in that same area. The next week a TV news team van ran over a moose in the same area after it had been hit about an hour earlier. The insurance adjuster was surprised that there wasn't a "death claim" filed after seeing the van. Needless to say I feel very fortunate that myself and my family are here to talk about it. We spent a night in the hospital got a rental car the next day, retrieved personal items from the van and we were able to get another van about 3 weeks later.

The first time i hit a animal I was 17. It was at night in the country and I didn't see him till it was too late. I cried the rest of the way home. I didn't hit another animal till bout a week ago. I was taking my 5 year old to school and had my two year old in the car also and i hit a squirrel. I just kept driving. I didn't say a word cause I didn't want to upset them.

Yes! I went slam-dancing with Bambi once...bounced a deer off the side of my car. I have had the unfortunate luck to have hit birds, a dog (Rover all over), squirrels (yikes!), rabbits and even a skunk (they never let you forget when you hit one of them....pew!). The deer was a glancing blow and and only a slight dent in the front fender...Bambi ran off just a little worse for wear.

If I hit any more critters, I will have to start putting 'kill' stickers on the side of my car.

I hit a coyote with a Cadillac Catera doing 75 on the interstate. It was early morning, I was tired, it ran out right as I was passing it, so it looked like it ran right into my tire. I had no clue what it was, just a flash in the headlight. When I got home, I saw my headlight shining up at the roof of the garage. I got out and found that it had cracked the bumper, broke the fog light, and moved the bumper up into the headlight, cracking that also. A guy at work pulled the fur out of the bumper and told me it was a coyote, otherwise I'd never know what it was. $2500 damage. That sucked.

A dog, while still on my permit. The teens that had the dog didn't have it on a leash, and it just ran in front of my car, and I couldn't stop because the road was wet, so I skidded into the poor thing. My dad paid for the dog to be brought to the animal hospital, and put down.

I've only hit a couple of cats, a fox , dozens of birds and millions of insects. I was in a car that hit a kangaroo and have had near misses with other kangaroos and an emu.

i was 18 at the time and cut a rabbit in half with the front bumper/spoiler thing. It ran out in front of me and at 50MPH it caught the side of the front spoiler thing and slid along the bumper, I went back and saw the rabbit, well bits, so it was very dead. (Made a terrible mess on the front fog lights)
30 mins later another rabbit ran out in front of me, but the tyre went to work on that one. Then about 10 mins later a badger ran out in front of me! I managed to stop in time for the badger!
that was all like 8 months ago at night, I've had young deer run out but I was going slow enough to brake in time, but got escorted up the road by a young deer at night, into town lol. Thanks Bambi :P

Oh and I've had a few seagulls too, but they were windscreen/windshield hits in mid air and they tend to bounce up and over the car and tumble in mid air and carry on.

If I get anymore animals I might have to get kill stickers and keep a tally of what I've had lol

A friend of mine hit a moose while driving at night ... car was totaled ... the moose was killed .. she was ok. The car and moose both lose in a collision. Because of the moose's height, he came over the hood and pretty much through the windshield.
