I'm a highschooler, Yet I found I am terribly afraid of ants. Last year I left a soda in my room and when I went away for a day and came back, A ton of ants were in my room. I suppose thats where it started. Well we have them again, Except they're in the kitchen, My parents bathroom, And the hall. They aren't in my room but I'm afraid they'll go there. We've already sprayed and had the exterminator spray outside the house, But there's a bunch of stragglers still about. I'm terribly scared they'll get into my room, And theres nothing more we can do. What can I do to not be so afraid? Thank you for your help.

Whoops, Didn't mean to post that twice. What I meant to say was that the exterminator sprayed today and that they are NOT fire ants. Just wanted to clear that up. Thanks for the help!

no most ants are not harmful but there are ants that are deadly to humans and can kill you in ten minutes so no its not silly to be afraid of ants

It's perfectly fine to have fears. Fear is healthy, as long as u don't let it rule ur life. It's often a protector too. For all u know, ur allergic to them and could die from antbites. Or u don't want to get bitten. I think there's some kind of fire ant killers or something to spray in the house. I'd ask ur parents what to do. yeah, there might be teasing...but remember, everyone's afraid of something....and someone elses will always think it's silly. But if u really think it's that silly...then...change it, get over ur fear.

Oh my! The same thing happened to me when I was a kid -- they were on my BED! I still don't really like ants.....but am TERRIFIED of spiders. I don't know how to overcome it. I have had several opportunities to hold a tarantula in my hand (I've seen people overcome their fears by just pushing through them), and couldn't even bring myself to come within 20 feet of it. Maybe hypnotism would work, but I haven't tried that yet. Someday.....

I understand what you mean. Maybe you should watch the movie "ants" or "a bugs life"? maybe you will see them from a different prespective?

I know it's silly but it's all I can think of..

well, we all are deathly afraid of something, so i think you're fine... just try to think of them as any other insect, and maybe you'll kill them better next round...
