If your cat is used to being outside, and I presume you have had her for a number of years and has wintered outside before, and you are concerned do as others have suggested and either set up a warm bed on a shelf in a shed or garage ( cat igloos are great, but are meant for indoors) or in a small dog kennel set up off the ground. Cats prefer to be not at ground level.

Cats are able to stand the cold better than the heat. Often you will see a cat sleeping in the cold with its tail over its nose and/or with its head turned so it is laying on its ears. All this preserves body heat

Under no circumstances sneak the cat inside if she isn't litter trained. Some cats do not like the trays. I had one like that.

If it is snowing bring her in anyways and just don't tell her about it. She won't poop on your face; true she may go on the carpet but it is unlikely since she is an outdoor cat anyways. She has probably already gone to the bathroom for the night.

I had a cat that refused to use the litterbox or even come indoors no matter the tempature so I would stick him blankets out on the porch with a dog house and he liked it in there. He could have come in if he wanted but he didn't. Also for another cat that didn't want to use the litterbox I sprinkeled potting soil over the cat litter and that worked like a charm! After a while I kept decreasing the potting soil until it was all cat litter. You may want to try that.

Take the cat indoors especially in cold winter nights. It is CRUEL to leave her outside. Take her in your room. Get her litter tray and fill it with DIRT from the yard (you can mix a little cat litter filler in it. This way, the cat will recognize that that is where she poops and pees. To help her realize, get hold of her front paws GENTLY and guide her in scratching and digging motions in the litter box. The cat will NOT poop on your face while you are asleep. If you mom objects, tell her that it is animal cruelty to leave your pet out in the cold during winter and that a neighbor might report it and you'll be fined by the state and the cat removed from your home.

Some breeds are more suited to cold weather than others. All small and bully breeds need to be brought in. Those who cannot be brought iside should have adequate shelter which includes an insulated house with a floor of some sort and straw inside .Make sure water is available and that it is not frozen.

If it's quite cold, and your mom won't allow her in the house, I'd recommend finding someone who will take her in. Cats are not built to be outside in very cold temperatures. Their ears and tails are very susceptable to frost bite.

If anything, make sure she has shelter, ie. a dog house, even a box.. anything that will protect her from the cold and wind. Also, be sure she has something warm to sleep on that isn't directly on the ground such as a basket or a cushion. Lastly, give her something to curl up to to keep her warm. Not a blanket though as they can retain moisture and freeze solid in frigid temperatures.

Hope that helps!

Do you have a crate to put her in? If you do then you can put a small litter box in the crate with her. She will definitly use the litter box then. Otherwise if you don't have crate maybe you have a small room (bathroom, laundry room) that doesn't have carpet on the floor or if it does have carpet line the floor with newspaper and put a litter box in there with the kitty. I am glad you love your kitty enough to want it to be warm. Your kitty will love you for this.

Be RESPONSIBLE. If you love this cat, then you ARE responsible for it. Try to reason with your mom, be patient with the cat in training it to use the litterbox...and oh yeah, is it spayed/neutered? If not, that is the FIRST responsible act. Save up some of your money, get the cat altered, and then tell your mom YOU will be totally responsible for its care.

do you have a bathroom you can put her in with a litter box? Bathtub works too. If you leave her out at least make sure she has an igloo inside a garage, under a porch or someplace protected.

Fix a litter box. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the cat going on your face.
