Water intoxication is a medical condition (also known as hyperhydration) in which an individuals intake of water is excessive. A person with two healthy kidneys can rid themselves of about 1.5 liters of water per hour at maximum filtration. The main consequences of over consumption are hyponatremia (decreased plasma sodium, due to dilution) and suppression of the production of antidiuretic hormone. Extreme hyponatremia (with plasma sodium levels less than 100 mmol/L) frequently leads to cerebral edema, seizures, coma, and death.
First, the body's sodium levels drop, due to the loss of electrolytes when sweating (sodium is an electrolyte). Next, the excess water is absorbed into the bloodstream and eventually the lungs, and the victim will suffer from dyspnea and nausea. If allowed to progress without treatment, the victim will develop pulmonary adema, or filling of the lungs with a bodily fluid, and will face more serious complications.

certain you are able to overdose on water, as loopy because it sounds it really is accessible. i'm a qualified rubdown therapist and that i recognize plenty about water that is all i'll drink! at the start it relies upon how a lot water you drink, you ought to drink a million/2 an oz to at least a million ounce of water in protecting with pound of bodyweight. So if someone weighed one hundred lbs, they could both drink 50 or one hundred oz.. It also relies upon on how briskly you drink it. in case you drink like a gallon of water in 30 you're going to expel it. with the help of urine or vomiting, the different ingredient is you ought to drink you water slowly, in the journey that your urine is gently yellow or sparkling you're loosing mandatory supplements and minerals your body calls for from water!!

Drowning occurs when water gets into your lungs. You know how sometimes when you take a drink and choke because it went down the "wrong pipe"? That "wrong pipe" is the wind pipe which leads to your lungs. Obviously, you can't have water in your lungs, so you choke on it. What happens is this:
When you are not swallowing anything, your wind pipe is open, letting oxygen into your lungs. When you swallow, the pipe closes so that the food or water that is going by doesn't enter into your lungs.
When you drink lots of water, it is impossible to drown from it, because the water is going into your stomach, not your lungs. You might overfill your stomach and could possibly throw up, or you might just have to wait a little bit until all of that water makes its way to your bladder.
But you definitely can't drown.

No. You drown by having water in the lungs preventing you from breathing air.
No need to drink so much water. You can get water poisoning by drinking too much. You likely haven't had that much yet.

You can not drown but sick yes you can ingest too much water a conditon known as hyperhydration as well as absorb to much water through the skin. You may have noticed when you stay too long in the tub for instance, the sodiom in your skin becomes to diluted and the body starts to allow water to enter through the pores in your skin. Too much of anything is not good that's why we call it too much!!!!!!1

No I drink a gallon of water everyday besides other fluids .
this is called hydrating and is innocuous and actually extremely healthy as it flushes waste from your system . Many medical sources recommend eight glasses minimum per day. I think this is low.If your urine is heavy you aren't hydrating enough. If you increase your fluids mineral& electrolytes may require replenishment one source is gator aid but there are others.
http://www.awwa.org/communications/mainstream/2004/Feb17/Lead02waterdietaryintake.cfm there are cases of too much water consumption for other reasons:

You can get water poisoning if you drink so much water that it delutes you electroyte. It's called hyponatremia. When you work out and sweat, you sweat out electrolytes, salt, water and other minerals. If you drink enough water in a long enough time, the electrolytes and salt in your body become deluted and you get sick from it. That's why athlethes drink sports drinks.

I do not remember the college, but a few years back a student died while pledging to a fraternity...I believe he was on his 5th or 6th gallon. He over saturated himself and basically drowned.
