Survival Evasion, Resistance And Escape Operations Apprentice

I am about to enlist in the Air Force, and I am interested in SERE.
I've been a Ninja my whole life, so sneaking, and living off the land ar'nt anything out of my norm. What would I get to learn, and do?
Is this part of any kind of special forces? If not, could I request to be transferred to it from SERE? Im interested in learning guns, combat, sneaking, psychological warfare, prisoner interrogation, medic skills and anything useful if the world goes to hell in a handbasket.
Does SERE ever get sent to retrieve someone behind enemy lines? How would I get to be a medic on elite missions, special forces, ect.

It sounds like it would have been better for you to join the Marines, I work with the Air Force and we talk about the differences in the branches. I'm in the Army myself, I'm not knocking the Air Force at all but, from my understanding it's not so "hi-speed". SERE school is just that a school. Go there do the school and graduate. Then move on, Rangers, Seals are probly the people you want to go to

I am not going to say that I know 100% that my answer is correct, but as a Marine who has gone through SERE training, I am 99% sure that there is no such job. Depending on your job you might be required to go through SERE training, as I did with several Air Force bubba's, but again there is not a SERE job, except to be an instuctor. The nearest thing I can think of is a survival equipment apprentice. For the answers to your other questions about Airforce spec ops I can't answer for you. Ask a recruiter or maby someone on here will be able to answer for you. If you are interested in that elite kind of stuff why not join another service and go spec ops thier route...i.e. Navy Seals, Army Rangers, or Marine Force Recon? Hell I did not even know the Chair Force had that kind of stuff.

Everybody who goes to SERE have undergone the Code of Conduct that requires to have Top Security Clearance. Whatever is on the internet is far as the details go. Level "C" is the far most sensitive course that cannot be stressed enough when it comes to 'classified' content. Although that all pilots and aircrew have undegone Level "B" and possibly "A", which almost all servicemembers will be instructed in. After they have attended the course, they are given a psychological evaluation after the events that has taken place in the duration of the course. The Air Force has added a sexual harrasment school in the process where they be subjected to 'realistic' forms of sexual harrassment; it will put a shock to the females, but it is to give them an understanding that while they are in real captivity by the enemy, they will not have it as easy as the course outlined. SERE is not made to degrade or maim servicemembers; It outlines the Article of Conduct that underlines every possible scenario if a servicemember is held in Prisoner of War Interrogation. SERE is exists in the curriculum due to capture of 'sensitive personnel' who will carry valuable information that holds the integrity of many soldiers with lives at sake. Sorry to the questionaire, but that is special compartmented information that no service member should violate! Although there are minor course in SERE that are not in such much of violation, it is to be advised that it is in violation of securing special compartmented information. The details of the course is something you cannot ask, nor will get a concrete answer. NOTE: I guess the 'person' who thumbed me down didn't like my sarcasm earlier...I see he deleted his answer! I didn't mean to be rude to him, but if he proclaimed of being a US Army Ranger, he would have known about the liability; therefore wouldn't had recieved such a negative feedback.

Try to become an air forward controller. That's the guy who calls in the fast movers to drop there bombs on the target. You will be working in indian country all the time with the sneaky petes and the spooks. SERE training is automatic for that assingment. It's not easy.
Oh and by the way, you will have to go to jump school for that. So you might as well be a Green Beret are Ranger. But you have to be really motivated to get through that. Believe me the Army has there own schools. NO SLACK.

Thats is only training and not a Job. You will want to be an Air Force Combat Controller maybe. Check out this link

Everyone has there opinions about each branch, but the truth of the matter is, we are all brothers and sisters in one big family, and nothing could get done if we did not work together. There are shitty jobs in each branch, and the rivalry between each branch can be fun and is just part of the job.

This is part of the basic training course that you will be in.
This is not part of any kind of special training. If you wanted to be in Special Forces, you should have enlisted in the US Army instead of the US Air Force!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that is what your AFSC is going to be it sounds to me like you will be walking people through a gas chamber and banging on locker doors.
I believe the only connection it will have with Special Ops is that they will go through the training that you will be providing.
