Use both. Oil is too oily. Lotion alone won't help dry skin. Pour some baby oil into your favorite lotion. Shake it up to mix them. Use like regular.

I can help you. I have a super dry skin condition called keratosis pilaris which makes me scaly and bumpy. In the winter-dry air, my skin actually BLEEDS when I scratch it. The absolute BEST remedy (because I have tried EVERY lotion and cream available and NONE of them do enough) has been to use a teeny-weeny bit of vaseline (not the cream, the actual petroleum jelly) all over my especially dry areas. I do this before bed and after baths. It's important to use very little because vaseline will stain your clothes if you use too much. That's why I try to do it at times when I won't be dressing right after. The other thing I do in conjunction with this is once a week I make a thick paste out of sugar and olive oil and scrub my whole body in the shower and then rinse. The sugar gets rid of the dry skin flakes (the flakes being stuck to you are what cause all that itchiness..it's your bodies way of trying to get you to scratch to help the renewal process along.) and the olive oil makes your skin feel like satin. IT'S AMAZING!!
Best of luck and I hope that helped!

Baby oil is a petroleum based product with a lot of synthetic chemicals, plus artificial fragrance.
There are better choices for moisturizing with a less greasy feel.
If your skin is really dry, you need to do a few things in addition to moisturizing.
Drink a lot of water. Omega 3's in your diet.
don't take HOT showers, they strip the oil from your skin.
Moisturize after towel dry from shower/bath. Use a rich cream with shea butter, cocoa butter, sesame seed oil, almond oil, etc.
Lotions are diluted creams and many contain alcohol.
You'd be better off using a light olive oil. Seriously, it does work and completely natural.

I have been doing some research on this very thing. baby oil is made of mineral oil, which does not penetrate skin very well. So the affects don't last very long. Look instead for a product with another moisturizing agent, such as aloe vera or glycerin. You may pay a little more for a product if the main ingredient isn't mineral oil, but your skin will be stay hydrated longer. And drink lots of water if you have dry skin. This helps hydrate your skin as well.

if you really have dry skin, it is best to use both baby oil and lotion. I put baby oil on my wet skin right after shower, then towel dry, then put on lotion. (i really have dry skin; lotion is not enough for my skin). Oil will also help your body warm the whole day especially this winter time. If your prone to allergy (like me) use any hypo-allergenic kinds or unscented. Also, to keep ur skin moisturized use Olay or Dove soap. (I bet u can imagine how dry my skin is.) Stay moisturized.

No, Skin so soft in the green or pink bottle. It doesn't matter which one you use. I use both because I have really really dry skin to.

Baby oil helps me. In fact, it's the only thing that really helps my dry skin.
