Which mirrors an equally silly argument that the existence of atheists threatens to stoke the fundamental disbelief that religious people harbor in their heart of hearts. In other words, believers are essentially doubters who are scared of letting those doubts escape from the cage of dogma.
I don't believe that. And symmetrically, the answer is no.

Atheists need god to exist so they can believe he doesn't exist?? Oh man, that one fell about ten feet away from me. The answer is... Ummm no I guess. The whole point of being an atheist is not believing that god exists at all. To say he exists but i don't believe in him/her is kind of a conundrum
