Well your piercer should have told you, but you should only eat cold liquids for the next couple of days... milkshakes, chilled vitamin drinks, lots of water. Don't drink any beer for at least six weeks!! You could end up with a yeast infection in your tongue otherwise.

I didn't read all the previous answers, but it's pretty simple. Eat what you can. After I got my tongue pierced, I ate a lot of ice. It sounds weird, but I was able to find the round ice, with the hole in the middle. So, I let it rest around my piercing. It helped the swelling a lot. It only lasted a few days for me.
I also wanted to point out that one major thing you shouldn't do is smoke. I don't know if you're a smoker, but smoking before your piercing is healed is a bad idea.

You are going to be eating alot of soup for the next several days. I had my tongue pierced when I was 27 and lost a lot of weight during the next couple of weeks. I was not able to eat good solid food for about 10 days. If you drink alcohol, do not drink anything with a high amount of yeast fermentation (beer and wine), or you risk fungal infection of your tongue. Hard liquor with (preferably diet) soda is best. I took out my piercing on my 30th birthday and I have not worn it since. I got tired of chipping my teeth.

soup with no chunks, jello and cold yogurt are good kuz it lowers the swelling and i recommend that for the first 3 days, suck on small ice cubes (not too long) but be careful not to hurt ur tongue. ice cream is also great, frozen yogurt NO CHUNKS!. u can eat anything that has no chunks to get stuck in ur new hole and cause an infection... and dont forget for the first 3 weeks listerine is ur best friend. actually try to find something with a lower alcohol content, alcohol is too strong for open wounds and will take longer to heal, ask ur pharmacist or body piercer we might be in different geographical locations. what u can also do is take bottled water, boil it for 5 minutes, add SEA SALT, let it cool (make sure u cover it so that bacteria doesnt get in there) and gargle.. make sure its cool kuz the heat will encourage swelling.

Anything soft, easy to swallow and that doesn't need chewing. DO NOT eat anything that could get caught on the stud, spaghetti for example. Or chew gum. As if you could, I'll bet your tongue is super swollen. You should be able to eat fine in a few days.

Lots of crushed ice sweetie!!Lots of icee's , milkshakes, ice cream, etc. I tried some KFC mashed potatoes and gravy with mine but it still was too uncomfortable to have any warmth on it!!! I've had mine for 4 years now-the first 3 months was a little rough to get used to, but after that no more problems. The 3rd day it was done was the worst! It bleed out alot because mistakenly sucked through a straw! Do not do that!! NO fun!!

I had my tongue pierced twice. You can eat anything you want but I recommend soft foods like jello, soup, ice cream, foods that don't require much chewing. Trust me, it hurts when you end up biting it! Stay away from spicy stuff for a few days.

yes but only a liquid diet because if any thing gets in that whole while it's healing and your tounge is getting used to the whole in it it will get infected and if that does your in a lot of trouble and also be sure to rinse with mouthwash

use some orajel in your mouth first, then try getting some soft foods down. until your tongue starts to heal the barbell will stay straight up and down for a few days which makes chewing hard to do. also your tongue is swelling up which makes the likelihood of biting your tongue go up. stay away from anything that requires chewing for at least 2 or 3 days. once the swelling goes down, you should be able to eat regular food.
no matter what, carry a travel size bottle of listerine everywhere with you and rinse with it after putting anything other than purified water in your mouth!

eat anything you want just be careful not to crunch on your barbell...you need to get used to eating everything with it. Also get a bottle of listerine and carry it around with you. make sure to "swish" after eating or smoking etc!! Good Luck and enjoy

I have had my tongue pierced three times. Stay away from Dairy because your tongue can get infected. That means no milk or Ice Cream. You can eat soups but if you eat Chicken Noodle soup....ouch it will hurt because the noodle will be wrapping around the tongue ring and it hurts. Eat Jello.....Honestly if you wanted to lose a couple of pounds this would be the best time to do it because you have to avoid a lot of foods to risk having an infection.
