it's the dumb people who post all the private info on there that makes myspace get a bad name.
If you make an account, don't do it where people can find you by your real name. Be vague in details...don't post things you wouldn't want everyone to find.
A lot of dummies are posting their real addresses, phone numbers, every activity/event they attend, etc...so weirdo stalkers can find them

I think PARENTS should be monitoring thier kid.
There is nothing bad with myspace. But there is a HUGE problem with PERSONAL responsibility! Yes, myspace should probably have more security, knowing that people from 12-60 probably walk onto this site all the time. Its just as dangerous as any chatroom, any messanger (where random IMs can IM you), etc.
Parents should be taking PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for what their child does on the computer. Im sorry..there is NO such thing as a child's privacy and space when you want to make sure your child is safe. And the child should be TAUGHT what not to do on the internet.
When I first got on the internet (I was 9...yes..that young..and I am 22 now), My father told me this VERy important lesson:
1. Never talk to strangers.
2. Never give out your name, email address, phone number, age or location.
I still follow those very basic rules today. Most people are very ignorant to the internet. They automatically assume that other people need to protect their child when it is THEY that should be protecting and monitoring their activities.
People just love to point blame on some one else. Myspace is nothing, but a hub to connect people all over the world. We all must exercise personal responsibility and be careful of what we do no matter where we are.

No. All the hype about MySpace is just that. Hype.
There is a small amount of merit to the warnings they give, but these warnings are the same for any online community, be it Yahoo, Neopets, or DeviantArt.
Don't belive all the rumors you hear about predators luring kids for sex, or that several people were killed because they met up with a convicted felon on MySpace. These are urban legends, and are NOT true.

I'd say it's good for people who are old enough, like 16 maybe. Check people's pages out to make sure they are not psychos before you add them as friends, though. Myspace is a lot of fun, and there are a lot of privacy settings you can adjust so that you feel safe. People can only know what you let them know.

Myspace is awesome. It's a great way to keep in contact with friends and family. You can listen to music there and watch videos. Plus you get to express yourself with your page. It's a great way of meeting new people, but you have to be careful. For the people who don't, end up being on the news. I have my profile set to private. It's good because no pervert can view my page, only my friends AND no enemy of mine can see my page. Which is great! XD

I think it can be used for bad. Don't you ever read any stories in the paper about police catching perverts on myspace all the time. Really, who honestly has 100 real friends? No one.

I don't think myspace is bad as long as you keep it private. Don't open up to peopel you don't know and don't add new friends of people you don't know. I have a myspace and it is fun. You can recieve emails and change up your myspace however you want to. I don't talk to anyone i don't know. If you do this then you will enjoy it

I dont think its bad at all. I think its like any other chat thing ppl get on. with all of it u have to be careful with what u put out there for the world to see. i mean they only know what u put out to the world. and its up to u who is on ur friends list n can contact u.

You have to be careful about it. To be safe, you need to make sure you don't have identifying information in there. Also, don't post pictures of yourself doing illegal things like drinking underage. It can come back to bite you. But if you're smart about it, it's not bad at all. You just need to be responsible.

Just becareful. Its not dangerous unless you meet someone off the site that you don't know. Heck you yahoo answers could be bad too if you met someone on here in person that you didnt know.
