The politically correct thing is to first explain that they only tell people who are here illegally to get off their land. But that is not entirely true. We are a nation of xenophobes. Many American's have a feeling of "patriotism" that leads them to believe that our culture and way of thinking is the greatest and all others are inferior. People who are secure in their love for this country, but who are also tolerant of other viewpoints, don't tell anyone to get out of this country. We encourage them to come into the country through the correct channels so that they can live life as an American citizen with all the protections it provides and so they can perform the duties of upstanding Americans (voting and pay taxes just to name the first two people immediately think of). So you are overgeneralizing, but you're not exactly THAT far off the mark. The people who tell ANY immigrant to get out of America, even if they are legal, are what we call ignorant blowhards.
As for the Indians, I think what we did was b.s. But, looking at the history of man you can't expect more out of them. They rape and pillage and call it progress. It is the nature of the beast.
...Man's inhumanity to man...
And NO we have not done enough to "make it up to them." We murdered them into near non existence and it pisses me off when self righteous morons think reservations and casinos make up for that. If Al-Qaeda let us build a Wal-Mart in Afghanistan, is that making it up to us for 9-11?? Hell no. So stop being so callous. Native AMERICANS were here first and we went on a murdering rampage to secure our supremacy. NOTHING WILL EVER MAKE UP FOR THAT!

Native Americans in the United States are American citizens and America is just as much their land as it is any other American. It still belongs to them they still live here and tribes enjoy soveriegn status on their reservations. Not long ago (350 years) my ancestors, native and english bloodied themselves all over the east coast. The United States was the result. It could have been worse. The Mongols depopulated vast swaths of central asia. Indonesians wiped out the Papauan peoples of those Islands. The Chinese have been busy with Tibet and the Russians have been working through the forests of Siberia for some time now. I wouldn't try and moralize history. Americans invite far more people in than we tell to get out.

Americans don't tell people to get out of our lands. People from all over the world come here legally and illegally. All the same, We put them to work, pay them and we just keep getting richer and richer. Eventually they become us. You should try it! Native Americans may have a very different view of immigration as your question implys.

for the most part americans do not tell others to get out of their land. er.. our land. but. illegal immigrants are really the cause of speculation. we haven`t been here all that long, that`s true, but we`ve been here longer than the illegal immigrants have. it`s the same for other countries, would you like it if illegal immigrants flooded your nation ? ii doubt it. to some extent it`s okay but right now the problem is with mexico. this land did belong to native americans way back when but the europeans that came here originally were harsh and the native americans died due to diseases and war. so the europeans just took it over.. and then other people of other ethnicities moved here too. and now we have america.

First - America consists of North, Central and South America! Which do you want to respond?
Next - I (personally) have never heard another say "Get out of My land"!
The USA (I presume you meant this) is welcome to everyone willing to learn our culture and language! English (while not the Official language) is the most spoken language in this great country!
Example --- If I were to journey to France, I would expect to know enough of the language (French) to say "I do not speak French! Do you speak English"?
Is that too much to ask? I think not!
Were I to visit Mexico, I would expect the same! Why should we in the USA be different?
Granted, We (The USA as a whole) stole this land from those who lived here before us! Call them what you will (American Natives, Indians... whatever).
They too, took this land from those (whom ever they were) who lived here before!
In the humble words of a great American ... "This land is your land, This land is my land"!
God Bless Us All!

Americans tell illegals. What do u mean haven't been that long? Who? And not long ago has been quite a long time since it belonged to the native Americans. The issue at hand is why Americans want illegals to leave are far too numerous I don't care to answer as you just need to listen to the complaints. As someone in another answer said.. "we are dealing with issues of today, not history". And as we know..history is past.

we have no problem with people who come here legally, come on in, pay your share of the taxes, but don't come here illegally and have your children in our hospitals that, by the way, i can't even afford to be in. then work for three for four years living ten people to a house , sending the majority of your income home to Mexico. go back, only to return in a few months to do it all over again! and by the way Indians were here first, but we treated the land and the animals like they were worth something, we never ran out of food till the white people came. {walker}

And before the Native Americans it was the Vikings and before that Africans and before that there were probably others.I mean what's your point? No land belongs technically to anyone, but if you want to go to any country there are proper procedures that All must go through.Legally! When in Rome.....

I don't think Americans who are intelligent are telling all people to get out of their land. I think they are only directing this feeling at illegal immigrants. But, I do agree with you. I don't think any man has the right to tell another man to leave the land he lives on. No one owns the earth. We all share it and we should all be entitled to visit and live in any part of it that we want to as long as we do so legally and respect the laws of the nation we wish to live in. Present day Americans did immigrate to this land after the Native Americans. But don't forget that Native Americans also immigrated here at one point in history over the land bridge from Asia to Alaska. They did this thousands of years ago, but they had to migrate to get here. If anything, that just proves that we are all immigrants to this land at some point and that anyone who wants to live in the land of opportunity should be able to do so (legally).

Because the Indians no longer own the lands we now reside upon. Also, America had come into possession of these same lands. So the land no longer belongs to the now long dead peoples who once lived here. Its America. Not Mexico and not the Indian Nation.
