Hi Jimmy
A normal round played in a foursome would take roughtly 4 hours.
You could play alone and do it in about 2.5 hours but you would have to be moving pretty fast with no delays.

Four hours is the estimate most people give for 18 holes.
The actual time depends on how busy the course is, how many people you are playing with and how many strokes everyone takes (a round of 72 will obviously be faster than a round of 112).
A golfer playing alone on a course that is not crowded should be able to finish in 2 and a half hours or less.
A foursome playing a very crowded course might wind up spending 5 or even 6 hours on the golf course.
To keep things moving, all friendly matches (rounds of golf that are not played in tournaments or for money) should be played by the principles of "ready golf."

The proper amount of time is:
18 holes--4 hours 10 minutes
9 holes--2 hours 5 minutes
however, some courses take longer than others to finish, so it may vary.

G'day jimmythetulip22,
Thank you for your question.
I would budget 4 to 4 and a half hours for 18 holes and 2 to 2 and a half for 9 holes. It depends on conditions such as not being held up by the group ahead of you or having a slow player in your group.
Regards

It depends on the course and who you are playing with. Most rounds shouldn't take more than 4 to 4 1/2 hours. I've played some rounds that took 6 hours, especially corporate tournaments. But for the average golfer, on an average day, at an average course, 4 1/2 hours should be the max.

St Andrews sets a limit of 3 hours 47 minutes for the Old Course. And that's for a 4 ball. I think 4 hours is about right. But of course so much depends on the beer drinking idiots shooting 110 in front of you...I have toiled around in 6 (!) hours before. That's why I don't play on weekends anymore.

About 4 -5 hours for 18 holes - depending whether your ball and your partners' balls fly straight, how crowded the course is, what you use to go around the course. You can either walk or use the buggy. However some golf courses are not walking courses, you must use their buggies.

If you are playing on a public golf course, 18-holes of golf will take you roughly 5.5 hours to complete.
If you are playing a golf course where they have marshalls monitoring your play, it will take roughly 5 hours to complete 18-holes.

9 holes--walking, 3 hours max.(if playing with 3 other people. takes me 2 hr 15 min by myself) cart--about 1 1/2 hours think
and just double that to get 18 hole averages.
