My Grandpa passed away about a week and a half ago. He and my Grandmother were seperated for like 12 years but they never officially divorced. He isn't my real Grandpa, my Grandma;s first Husband is, but I grew up with him as my Grandpa.

Basically, he wasn't doing well on his own so because he and my Grandmother were still friends, she let him move in with her to help care for him. Now, he has passed away and unfortunately made no arrangements, and left nothing behind except personal items and his car, which we plan to sell for what it's worth, probably around $500, maybe $400.

Basically, my grandmother and I cannot afford to pay all of his funeral expenses, even with the cheapest options i.e; cremation, purchasing a ceramic urn outside of the mortuary. However just for the cremation, and copy of the death certificate, this still totals around $1100! Even if we sell his car for $500, we don't know how we can pay for the remaining $600

He has children, and they know the situation, but they didn't see him for 12 years, until my Grandmother and I were able to reach them when my Grandpa was on his death bed.

We've explained the problem to them, but all they did was come and take personal things of my grandfathers and leave us with the problem of his cremation.

My Grandmother and I feel HORRIBLE that my Grandpa's body is just sitting there, but neither of us has the means to pay more then $100 between us.

Taking him to a cheaper mortuary isn't an option because the current one said we would have to pay "storage" of $100 per day. We don't want him to end up in Potters field...

What can we do!? Help!?

Contact a social service agency like United Way or your County Health Clinc--some place that might be able to give you some appropriate referrals. This situation is just horrible, some agency must be able to help you, be diligent. Good luck

His relatives is caught together with his 500+ million money of debt so that they might't pay and in basic terms call it the final vast finale California will see in the close to destiny as they fall into the financial abyss.

Make arrangements to make minimum monthly payments, or, arrange to work at the morturary to pay off the debt. Good luck.
