In addition to painting the walls, dye all the fabric....sheets, bedspread, curtains....a different color. Beg for cast-offs from relatives, maybe they will let you have something they no longer want and have stashed in the basement or attic, like mirrors, picture frames ( these can be made into bulletin boards and vanity trays), planters, fabric or old clothes ( old prom dresses? ) that you can cut up to make pillows and lamp shades, area rugs that you can bring back to life with a good cleaning, old chairs or dressers that you can revive with some wild paint combinations. Make colorful collages from magazine photos and glue to foam core board. Make paper flowers from tissue or crepe paper. If you are at all interested in a retro-look,you can make a beaded curtain out of paper beads that you make yourself from wrapping paper or magazine pages. Cut the paper into triangles with a 1" base and at least 12" long. Start rolling around a toothpick at the base end and keep rolling until you get to an inch from the tip, apply some white glue and finish rolling. Give each bead a thin coat of white glue and let dry on the toothpick...when dry, just give a little twist to remove it from the toothpick. If you can get some old glass beaded jewelry from family or friends and take it apart, you can combine these with the paper beads to make a very 60s style beaded curtain for a room divider.

U can redecorate ur room, u dont have to do much. Just buy some paint for like 8 dollars and paint it a different color and it would make it very different. And then over time u can add things once u get money like a rug to match the wall, then picture frames that match the wall and then like a comforter set...good luck

Paint is the fastest and cheapest way to transform a room. Find the color you absolutely love-(I just painted my living lavender)-it will always put a smile on your face when you walk into the room. Also, try garage-sales, Goodwill, or consignments shops for interesting funiture and accents (and highly affordable). Wood is the most versatile-you can always stain or paint a piece.Happy decorating!

Redoing a room doesn't always mean buying new furniture. You can try re-arranging them in different ways, and paint it a new color if you can afford that. It's always fun to see how your room would come out just by moving furniture around.
