Which one has stronger 80hz-250hz mid-bass?
Which one has brighter highs?
Is one warmer and smoother than the other?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

The Monitor 40 will have more in the mid-bass, have
quicker bass, will be less smooth and warm, and offer
less of an extended frequency response than the RTi6.

Of course all of these are general statements, and will
vary depending upon what electronics and cabling you
will be using. Polk speakers are all have similar voicing.

i have many polk speakers including the rti6.

the monitor line up that polk offers is an entry level line and is good if you are on a tight budget. if youcan afford the rti4 or the rti6 i would easily choose those over the monitor40. Everyone who has heard the two speakers will tell you that the rti6 is much much better. tons of bass from the speaker and great detailed highs and better cabinet construction to minimize resonance. rti wins in ever category pretty much. the rti4 was considered polks best bang for the buck. the will obviously not dip too low in the hz so pair them with a subwoofer if you like. the rti6's have a nice woofer and id highly recommend them. i compared them directly to my rti70's and they sounded very good compared to them just not as rich in the mids due to the lack of volume compared to a floorstander.

conclusion, rti6 all the way and dont look back.
