Don't get me wrong, I'm not a believer, and I get just as irritated with bible thumpers knocking on my door trying to convert me partly because they care but mostly because God said they had to. However, I really DON'T see why other non believers are so worked up about Christmas. Wha'ts all this "I'm offended by Nativity scenes" stuff? I know so many people who get really upset when people wish them "Merry Christmas." Why are we not supposed to call them "Christmas trees" anymore?
I don't get offended when people wish me Merry Christmas instead of Happy Hollidays. I kind of like it that a Christian can wish me good will and good cheer. I don't feel like a Nativity scene is "shoving religion down my throat" any more than I think that people who wear pagan symbols are trying to shove their religion on everyone else. I don't agree with every one of the 10 commandments, but I'm not exactly pro murder/lying/stealing either. Why are people so offended?

i don't know why either. We are in a christian nation, but not one that mandates it. I'm a believer, but before i was, christmas still meant something special. It was a time of giving and celebrating the end of the year with family. It still is. Adding a religious meaning to it offends some people because they think christmas isn't what they thought it was. But i argue that it's the samething. It's still a celebration (because jc was born that day) and it's still a commercial holiday of giving/receiving gifts (part of being christian is giving), so i think it's just a bunch of athiests who have sticks up their butts who are misinterpretting the good will of a christian holiday.

I think one reason might be that some Non-Christians are so sick of some fundamentalists trying to bring Christianity into everyone's life that even little things like this break the camel's back. I would be offended by a Nativity scene if it were on government property... but otherwise not really. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we live in a society that is predominantly Christian and thus the majority of us DO celebrate Christmas as is traditionally intended. To acknowledge this is NOT an evil thing. However, people can get kind of rabid about their "freedom" to be free of religion... and the US somewhat encourages it through our separation of church & state in that a person can be free of religion if they want to be... maybe its along those lines. I wish I were more eloquent in explaining this but oh well.

Its a great question!!! I know what you mean, whats the big deal, if you don't like that particular holiday, if its not for your then don't celebrate, but why complain about those who do?????

I love Christmas and even though I realize that most people don't celebrate it for the right reasons, why complain, let them have their party without a bunch of party poopers trying to take something away from it. Where I grew up, no one really understood the true meaning of Christmas, they just celebrated to get drunk and open gifts. They loved having the day off work and just sat back and ignored all the usual stress of life, and they partied, sometimes for days.

The fact that there are so many that want to destroy this holiday is just one more reason to understand how important it is. Jesus is the gift to all who accept Him as their Savior and Lord. The promise of eternal life is the greatest gift and its been made available to all mankind. But there is an enemy who wants to destroy people and the best way is to give the Lord a bad name and push people away from accepting this wonderful gift.

You don't see the poopers complaining about any other holidays do you!!! The point is that evil attacks what is good and there is nothing better than the true meaning of Christmas!!!!!

Have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!
I meant to say MERRY CHRISTMAS

I think you're right. I'm actually a pagan, and I do many of the same things that anyone does on Christmas. It's a beautiful holliday. I don't even care if I see the Nativity on government property. What I DO care about is Christians getting upset at people attacking their religion, then calling me a devil worshiper.
Tell you what Christians, you leave ME alone, and I'll leave YOU alone.

idk y exactly, but i think it is stupid. How do they know if they are offending someone by simply say they are offended.. Did that make sense lol? Anyhow. For all of you who do read this, i have to agree with the stupidity among those of you who feel the same. Why are you going to get offended over something that is ALWAYS going to be here. I am not a believer either, but i dont care when someone says merry christmas. I say it back.

Now- as for fretting. I get worked up over christmas because its a time when i can show people how much i care for them. I love buying other people things, and what better holiday than christmas? It is fun and loving, and it makes even the miserable, happy. I enjoy it. Anyhow.. thats one answer for you. :)

Every person in America can wish me a merry Xmas and have a nativity scene in front of there house, and I won't care. However the Government has no right to push religion, we don't have a theocracy yet.

properly, historic previous will teach you that pagans were having a mid-iciness pageant for an fairly lengthy era earlier the Christians got here alongside and hijacked that pageant, purely as they equipped the early church homes over the internet sites of pagan temples. through the way, Easter is likewise a pageant overlaid on the spring gala's that had earlier been held at that element of the 12 months, and the call 'Easter' is derived from the call of a Roman goddess... So i will no longer be operating over Christmas, yet celebrating the mid-iciness!

Maybe it is burn out?
I just get annoyed with the annual barage of "Christmas" merchandising- Christmas is everywhere, on TV, on people's houses, at work, on the radio...

It would not be so bad if it was just for a few weeks in December, but I swear I saw Christmas merchandise on the shelves before it was even Halloween. I can see why people would get sick of it, year after year.

This year I am working on ignoring it all. If somebody tells me "merry xmas" I tell them "merry xmas" right back. Afterall they are only wishing me well. I used to get annoyed with them in the past, but hey...what does it hurt?

I'm not offended. If someone wants to hang jesus up on a crucifix on their front lawn, they'll get no complaints from me. But when I put up my Cthulhu Nativity Scene, they'd better not complain!!!!

I think that non-christians are, for the first time, feeling a crack in the christian dominance of - well everything - and are flexing their muscles. I think it's kind of cool that to be PC you have to say Holiday instead of Christmas - life is good.
