It is nice to hear someone, who like the majority of Americans, does not take what their government says for face value.

Just as not every American thinks every Iranian wants to destroy us, I would hope that not every Iranian thinks every American wants to destroy them.

Most Americans, 99% of them, don't want to hate people. The problem I think, lies within the people who represent our nations. On one hand you have President Bush and others, who trying to protect our country, have tried to get people to realize that there are fundemental, radical muslims in the middle east who want to kill them. We don't believe that ALL muslims want to kill us, but there are a large group of them who do.

On the other hand, you have the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is trying to guide his people towards a certain goal. I myself have my own, personal opinions on what that goal is, but that would take more time to describe than I have.

So, it is very hard to descern what the average American or average Iranian believes, when we have very public, very outspoken icons standing up, spouting rhetoric.

So to you answer your question from a personal persepective, yes I support the current war. Under Saddam Hussien, the Iraqi people were repressed and did not have the freedom they deserve, to be their own people. I do not want to kill people. I simply do not. As for my government being honest, no. I would be naive to think that my government is completely honest, but then again, the flip of that coin, is that no goverment is completely honest.

I hold to V's statement "People should not fear their government, goverments should fear the people."

My friend, I think you have been misinformed. The U.S. doesn't want to kill your nation. What is expected that your nation live by the laws that have been established by a community of nations, otherwise know as the U.N. What the major problem is between your nation and mine is the fact that the ruling class of Iran has decided that the destruction of Israel and the establishment of a new shia caliphate is the correct course of action. Unfortunately, this course of action puts it on a collision course with the U.S. and a few other nations. I am a Muslim, but I do not what to see sharia law as the basis of law here in the U.S.
But to answer your questions, Yes I support war, sometimes, it is a necessary evil to overcome a greater evil. Do I want to kill people? I trained for most of my adult life to do just that. Would I enjoy it? No, but sometimes it is required. I believe that my government is probably one of the most honest, but totally honest, no. But, one of the things that sets the U.S. government over many, to include the Iranian government, there is no committee that isn't answerable to voter approving candidates. True in partisan races here in the states, political parties chose the candidates, but other than that there is no oversight by anyone else regarding who is chosen.
I don't think that all Iranians hate me. Personally, I try not to hate, it is just a worthless waste of energy. As for being brainwashed, in my life, I have traveled all over the world. I have been in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Meso America. I have been in developed nations as well as developing nations. I make up my mind based on what I see and what I research. I read newspapers and websites from all perspectives, to include the Tehran Times. Iran has an ancient culture, one that you should be proud of, but you leadership right now, at least in my mind, leave a lot to be desired.

We do not beleive in war, however we do believe in protecting ourselves. With Iraq, it was a case of we figured they were going to hit us so we decided to hit back first. On a person to person level, I bet we could resolve things, but a larger level some people just want to be the big dog in the yard and force their own people (such as Saddam) to support their views. Our national government, freely elected, were convinced that there was a threat to our national security and the world knows the rest.
If you want the US out of Iraq, stop all the secular fighting and you will see the dust of people leaving, but so long as there is internal strife it is harder for us to leave. Put a lid on Al Qadea, the militias and any other paramilitary and terrorist group and there will be no reason for the US military to remain in Iraq

When you have the Iranian president come out and say the holocast never took place and he will see to Israel's doom, how are you supposed to like these guys? The president is widely supported in Iran and he's a total nutcase.

I think you need to rethink what your government has done to cause this problem.

Most of the rational Americans do not support war. Unfortunately, it is strongly supported by many. It was not just Bush and the Republicans. Hillary supported it. So did Kerry. Many, many more support it even now.

Even those who supported / supporting war, I believe, now are convinced US should not have gone to Iraq. This being so, if Bush insists he has always been right, it is evident he is not admitting his blunder and is lying.
