It can at first. Try to talk to her about your new religion. Explain what the main beliefs are and maybe point out some similarities between your beliefs and hers. If she doesn't want to listen or whatnot then write all your thoughts down in a thoughtful letter. Sometimes writing a letter is better anyway because then you can pull your thoughts together and make sure what your saying doesn't come out wrong.

Or- If you don't want to talk about it at all then do other things together that you both enjoy. Ex: Going to movies, shopping, etc. Anyway, give it time and good luck =)

Quite Possible,

As a mother you want what is best for your child and if you have chosen a particular Religion, I am sure that's what you beileve is best.

As a daughter, I am headstrong, and like to make my own decisions sometimes one that mother would not make, and that she feels bad about... (more when I was a tinsy bit younger...)

If you train a child in the way they shall go they will not depart from it.

Yes, typically religious differences do cause issues, even between family members. Talk to her about it and maybe you two can work it out.
